We are long-time patrons of the folksy Kitchenette and were very saddened to see it had changed hands in January. The good news is that the new owner has a strong track record with prior experience running another local diner. Shelby did a nice job with the renovations, sprucing it up with fresh paint and nice local artwork, and still keeping the old-fashioned feeling. The food is always reliable and fresh, good standard diner fare. Our eggs were cooked perfectly, and the home fries are a nice touch. Unfortunately the coffee (Maxwell House) is quite disappointing, so much so that I had to go to Java John's to get something to wash the taste out out of my mouth. I hope they may change coffee vendors so I won't feel so ambivalent about this establishment that holds a soft spot in my heart.
