“Worth a visit!”

I've had lunch and dinner here and have never been disappointed, but I have to admit I love the lunch menu! The homemade cold salads and soups and unique sandwich options make it a great choice.

terrible food, terrible service-extremely slow. YUCK. they use the same chicken in every dish, and the chicken is gross, looks like frozen chicken they just heat up. caesar salad dressing is oily.

“beautiful view of the St. Lawrence Seaway”
Reviewed 9 January 2012

We tried the Phoenix on the Bay out of curiosity. It's a little building with views of the waterway. it would be lovely to watch the barges go by here in summer time. There was also a wood stove. Not sure if it was real or fake. Excellent service by our waitress who was rushing around serving many tables. Also there is beautiful artwork for sale.

Unfortunately, the menu is pretty much limited to sandwiches. Would have liked them to make some American favorites like burgers or fried chicken, but I guess the Phoenix one is considered to be more of a cafe.

One of us had fish & chips. Another had a salami and turkey sandwich with fries. Those two both said that their food was good, especially considering the price, around $6 each.

On the other hand, my meal was pretty awful. It was a salad made of: lettuce, tomatoes, shredded cheese, diced chicken, canned pineapple tidbits, sour cream, salsa, sweet BBQ sauce, corn chips, then top all that with more cheese and put it briefly under the broiler. !?!?!? The sweet pineapple and sweet BBQ sauce were a complete mismatch to the salsa and sour cream and to each other... and worst of all, the chicken meat was old. I couldn't eat the chicken at all and I just stuck to the corn chips & salsa & sour cream.

Finally, there was something else going on! A bad smell was wafting thru the restaurant occasionally. Couldn't tell if it was another customer passing gas, or maybe if the kitchen staff were cooking something stinky like cabbage or hard boiled eggs... or maybe even it could have been sewer gas. I'm betting that it was a customer though because it was intermittent.

I'd go back again, but I wouldn't order that salad next time.
