We stayed at the Water's Edge in Old Forge for my husbands birthday. We were meeting his brother and his wife for dinner and the evening out. We were very pleased with the service we received. The one desk clerk was a little distant, but the rest of the staff was wonderful . Our breakfast was over seen by Ann Marie ( I hope that is correct ) she was wonderful, personable, friendly and knew the area well. Her fresh made fruit salad was a pleasant surprise for breakfast. The room was clean with a small fridge, micowave and sink. The bathroom had plenty of towels. The furniture was a little scratched and dented in the living room area with a couch, coffee table and table and chair set. But the view from the deck made up for it.

We just stayed at Water's Edge last weekend for a couple of days. I often read reviews on here and then wonder if people stayed at the same place. This is a very nice hotel and during the off season, it's actually more reasonably priced than some of the other hotels. It was also very clean. There are only 3 hotels/motels in town with indoor pools and out of the 3, this is by far the best one. As other people have written, it is noisy when kids run up and down the halls but you'll have that just about anywhere there are people. Great time, nice staff and a good bargain during the off season. We'll be back next year!!!

For the third year in a row, we stayed at the Water's Edge Inn for the weekend after Thanksgiving. I made a mistake booking my room online and we did not have the jacuzzi room we wanted. Our room, the Governor's Suite, was in an otherwise unbooked wing next to the pool access door. We had to get a heater for the room, as the zone heat wasn't arriving to our room. There was mold in the room freezer, stains on the king comforter, and sticky substances in the drawers. We tried to change rooms and were told the hotel was sold out. The floor above us was torn up for renovations, and the room's door going to the outside patio stuck, making the entire door frame come loose when we entered,so we could not use that amenity. The shower head came off in my husband's hands when he showered. Other guests allowed their children to play and run in the hallway where our room was, because they assumed no one was there.
This is our first bad experience and because the other two stays were postitive, we will try once more as they do need the renovations. The staff is responsive enough, but not very friendly.

My fiance and I spent three nights at the Water's Edge in October of 2009. We planned to use the Inn as a base of operations for some kayaking and hiking. And in that respect, the Water's Edge is perfectly suitable.

We reserved an Ambassador Suite about two weeks before our trip. On arrival we discovered that the bathroom was not enclosed and the shower basically opens into the "bedroom" portion of the suite. I thought this was kind of odd and asked at the front desk if there was another room available with an enclosed bathroom. The woman working the front desk showed us to a lakeside double, but seemed incredulous that I would pass up the suite (Note: The Inn refunded the difference in the room rate without being asked). While no one treated us rudely, I would agree with other reviewers who found the staff unfriendly or lacking in enthusiasm.

Our double room appeared to have been updated and was clean and comfortable. We did not use the fitness facilities or the pool, but both seemed clean and well-appointed. There is free wireless internet throughout the facility, but the signal in-room was pretty weak.

Because the off-season rates at the Water's Edge Inn are so much more affordable than the peak rates, it's a nice alternative to camping for a fall excursion. But I wouldn't consider the Water's Edge as an option during the summer months when the rates are higher and other alternatives are available.

Upon arrival the staff was friendly and helpful. The room over looked the lake which was very nice. The room was large and clean. We actually had a regular double room, and thought there was plenty of room. The bathroom was updated and very tastefully done. We enjoyed a continental breakfast each morning. There was a very nice library that we used to play games in the evening. The hotel is very conveniently located to shops and restaurants.
We did not use the pool or sauna on this visit. It didn't appeal to me, seemed somewhat small. Other than that I would not hesitate to recommend it .

Waters Edge Inn has it's good points, and bad. We LOVED the view from our private terrace.. however... the hotel staff is not overly friendly, it seems abandoned and somewhat erie... and it smells. The room smelled like maybe the carpets had been damp once and not cleaned properly... something musty.. If they charged MUCH less.. I could see staying here again, but I would absolutely never pay that much for a hotel of this class again. For their prices, you should be able to get a suite somewhere... with a fireplace in the room.

Everything was great! My family and I could not have asked for better stay. We booked a Stay N' Play Package. It included the room and tickets to the water park across the street all at a discount which is nice since we're on a budget. We did not have a "remodeled room," but the room we did have was very clean and had a nice view of the Lake. I have stayed at several of the other area motels and I have to say this one is much cleaner and the location is perfect. The staff was very helpful in recommending local attractions and restaurants. All in all for a small town in the middle of the woods we couldn't have asked for anymore.
