“Excellent Choice, Great Breakfast.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 March 2014

Tried this B & B recently, and it was a very nice surprise! The inn has beautiful hardwood floors and staircases, along with new-looking carpeting upstairs. The room was a good value, and they serve a "made-to-order" breakfast with great choices.... The food was excellent and plenty of it... Will definitely stay in again when in the Olean area.

Great location at the heart of the town, yet not crowded. Exudes old world charm. Each room has a character of its own. Personalized breakfast at the long table is hard to get by nowadays. Overall a very satisfying experience.

My wife and I recently spent a couple nights at the Old Library B&B (in two different rooms). From the first call to make the reservation to check-out, the staff at the Old Library were exceptionally friendly - always going above and beyond. The house is charming and comfy, but it's important to remember it is an old house. The only real weakness, in our opinion, were the bathrooms. They were functional, but dated. The bathroom with our first room was accessed outside of the bedroom. It was tiny and the toilet had weak flushing. The beds were very comfy and the breakfasts were exceptional.

Room Tip: We saw two rooms on this stay. Both were good, but the Olds Suite is worth the extra money.

For about the same, you can have charm, comfort, cleanliness and a great breakfast with friendly chat-in the middle of town, across from a park and close to some good places to eat. The Inn is actually next to the library and has a small sign that can be hard to spot on the first trip.

Olean would have just been another town name on an exit sign along the interstate if it weren't for my car breaking down. So the misfortune of car trouble requiring an overnight back in 2012, led to this wonderful find, and the root of our mini vacation this June, 2013.
When I described the place to my wife during my first overnight, she seemed jealous. So, I planned a return trip (300 miles from home) to this fine B&B.

The place has a nice old Victorian charm about it, but the ladies who make breakfast in the morning made it feel so homey, just like family coming to visit.

The immediate town seems to be a bit past its prime, but there were plenty of local attractions to keep us busy for a few days.

Enjoy!

I had my wedding reception at the Old Library Events, next door to the Old Library Bed and Breakfast. It was wonderful to have the Bed and Breakfast next door, especially when we were getting ready and after the reception. The staff was gracious and were more than happy to accommodate myself and my family. They made us an excellent breakfast every morning and were helpful with the small details, such as making sure my dress was hung up, the sidewalk was clear after an unexpected snow storm, my family had everything we needed for the wedding. It was a great experience and in the end it felt like they were a apart of our family!

Room Tip: Room #1 is huge! My parents stayed in this suite and it was very spacious for two people

Although born and raised in Olean, my wife and I now live in San Diego; and went to Olean to visit friends and family. We stayed at the Old Libray B&B 8/7/12-8/8/12. We had the lower level suite. The owner Joe Mara greeted us when we arrived and was extermely gracious. The suite had a very nice family room area, a good size dining area, and a separate bedroom with attached bathroom. Both the family room and bedroom had televisions. There is a separate entrance which was great so we could come and go as we please. Everything was very clean and kept up. For those of you 5 star travelers (like my wife), just know that the air conditioning units do keep the suite cool; but are a bit noisy. Also understand that the lower level suite is a finished basement in an older home so you do notice that certain basement smell. Overall though, we slept great, the price was right, and the location is right in the center of Olean. The owners and staff are all wonderful people. Enjoy.
