The location is okay. The rooms are clean.
The check in process took forever. The rooms are dated (in a bad way). We didn't have hot water for half of our stay. The owners were slow and unpleasant. No one said thank you at check out. No one apologized for the lack of hot water.

Room Tip: go somewhere else

The Alpine Inn is clean, comfortable, and feels like your grandmother's house! The staff are helpful and friendly. The breakfast is amazing, and the dinner they serve is worth the extra money. If you expect fully updated, modern rooms, go elsewhere because that is not the point of this place. The suite w/ the fireplace is amazing and comfortable! The rooms are a little pricey, but worth the money.

You are greeted with a promise of good times. Outside well kept and location is tranquil. Lodge is dated, but clean and well presented. Rooms/bathrooms, however, were musty and worn - didn't sleep well. Breakfast was a highlight - ample and tasty. Beware of cancelation policy - no flexibility here!! Place nearly empty on the Labor Day Weekend - you make the call.

Be sure to ask about their cancellation policy. It will not be told to you and letters of confirmation of reservation are sent via US Postal service and are mailed so late( My husband and I looked at the postmark) that if you need to cancel, the conditions for cancellation ie:8 days, cannot possibly be met becaue the letters are sent too late to comply with the cancellation policy. The person who makes the reservations is very nasty and even hung up on me. When I explained that I will need to challenge the charge, he said "Well if i were you that's what I would do".

My family of 4 spent two nights at the Alpine Inn as part of a two day ski trip to Belleayre Mt., which is a short 8 mile drive away. We were there in the holiday week between Christmas and New Year's. Everything was fine during our stay, but we felt that the price was a little steep for what amounted to fairly basic accomodations. Our room was nothing out of the ordinary in terms of furnishings or size, but was in excess of $200 per night. A full breakfast was included in this cost, and I must say that it was a highlight of our stay. It was served in the main building of the Inn, in a very nicely decorated dining room and featured a variety of hot and cold offerings, rolls, pastries, beverages, etc. All you could eat served at your table, very tasty and well prepared. Dinner was served nightly too at an additional cost. All of the facility was very clean. Our only concern was the cost, which seemed high for a package that was really only above average on the breakfast.

We stayed overnight en route to our destination. The Alpine Inn was quiet and peaceful. Rooms were well kept, however decor could use some updating. Beautiful location.

The Alpine Inn is not glamorous, but it is charming--nestled in the woods in Oliverea, NY--near several major trailheads leading to peaks over 3,500 feet. Family run, very clean, quiet, nice atmosphere, wonderful food and lots of it. Nice views from the rooms.
