The Alpine Inn
Ranked #2 of 2 Oliverea B&B and Inns
Reviewed 2 January 2008

Stayed at the Alpine Inn quite a few years ago, same ownership still there I believe. Very nice dinners, however, some family members were not very friendly (to put it mildly). There were some very unfortunate family problems that caused this and hopefully time has healed things a bit.

Place was a bit dated then and it sounds like things may not have changed much. You may want to try one of the many lodging options at the Frost Valley YMCA facility, quite large and varied and nice cross country skiing.

The Alpine Inn has been serving visitors to the Catskills for over 50 years. My wife and I discovered it by chance. The rooms are very well kept and very clean, but the decor is from the 80s.

The style is German/Swiss Chalets

The location is just amazing. They have over 100 Acres of grounds in the Big Indian area of the Catskills. The Hotel is about 125 Miles from Manhattan and 4 miles from Phoenicia, which is a very cute little town.

The Alpine Inn has a nice pool, and it is surrounded by great hiking. Across the street is the Slide Mountain Forest house which has some of the best German cooking I have ever had.

The breakfast is decent, and the staff is very friendly.

The is certainly not a luxury spa, but if you want to relax, and really feel like you are in the forest, I would stay here. The prices are also reasonable.

This place is also very close to a ski area as well.
