“Peaceful inn, lovely hosts...”
Reviewed 14 August 2014

Everything about our stay was just wonderful. The Inn is a peaceful place with great accommodations and phenomenal food. There was always a beverage, fresh fruit and homemade cookies available as well as an outstanding breakfast. My gluten and dairy free needs were easily taken care of without any fuss. The area has great biking and even thought it feels removed from the world, all your needs are a bike ride away. They are a few miles from Greenport which has many restaurants and very nice shopping. I highly recommend this inn and will be going back to take advantage of Joan and Howard's hospitality very soon.

I knew I was in the right place when I saw music in the living room. I had an immediate connection to Howard, one of our hosts, who is a woodwind musician. The inn is on the main road when you get off the ferry from New London, CT. The area is simply beautiful with many bike paths. We went to many wonderful wineries that were recommended by Joan. The highlight of our stay was the dinner that Joan prepared for us. We corresponded with her prior to our arrival with our wine selections and she prepared an exquisite dinner for us. The breakfasts reflected her French culinary training. We can't wait to come back.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Orient Inn. Joan and Howard were very friendly and accommodating. They paid attention to every detail, providing fresh-baked oatmeal raisin cookies, coffee and tea when we arrived and offering a breakfast menu that included fresh fruits, breads, cereals, hot and cold beverages, and several hot items, like omelets and French toast. They even made a scrambled egg for our dog Dodie and gave her some jerky treats for the road! Our room was comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. If the opportunity arises again, we will definitely come back!

From the moment we made the reservation to stay at the Orient Inn we knew we were going to have a wonderful experience. The Innkeepers Joan and Howard were like old friends. Kind and conversational. The Inn itself is simply breathtaking. My husband and I arrived for our two day stay on a cold blustery night right off of the ferry (which is conveniently located a mere 5 minutes away) and saw this grand old home, porch lights on, fireplaces roaring and Howard waving us in, ready to help us with our bags. When we stepped inside we were instantly relaxed. The main entry with its hardwood flooring, beamed ceilings and thoughtfully placed antiques were just lovely. We were offered tea, coffee or fresh cookies in the main parlor room. We sat there both nights, bring a bottle of wine and just relax, it's the perfect room. There is also a TV room loaded with books and games as well.. Our room (#2) was again a treat. The bed was incredibly comfortable, there was a private full bath, a small table for two placed at the end of the King sized bed, a dressing table, classic armoire (with bathrobes for the guests) and fresh flowers on the bed side table. The oversized windows, so common in these early 1900's homes allowed for full sunlight during the day and unobstruted views into the gardens. We had lunches and dinners out but breakfast both mornings at the Inn; and what a breakfast it was. Amazing. There were fresh breads, juices, excellent coffee and teas, muffins, fresh fruit and of course the eggs and french toast. Choices that Joan (Culinary trained) offered included any kind of eggs as well as specials including scrambled eggs with goat cheese and herbs, 3 egg omeletts with mushrooms, shallots and cheddar, or feta and spinach, or ham and gruyere...I mean just amazing. We were sad to leave, but so happy to have found the Orient Inn. We will without a doubt be back...often.

Room Tip: Just tell Joan what you're looking for and she will do all she can to make your stay wonderful

Short and to the point. I am not normally a B&B fan as i prefer the seclusion of a hotel. That being said i will never stay in a hotel when i have the chance to stay at the orient inn. Howard and Joan were the perfect hosts and the breakfast each morning was just flawless. The rooms were large clean and cozy. 100% recommendation for this Inn

Room Tip: we stayed in room 2 but all seemed amazing

Just got back from a three night stay at the Orient Inn. The location, the inn itself, and Joan and Howard the owners made it the perfect vacation. Just close enough to Greenport and the vineyards to be convenient but far enough away to be peaceful and relaxing. By far the best breakfast in the North Fork and the rooms and service were top-notch. Fresh baked chocolate chip cookies daily as well! I can't wait until my next stay.

Room Tip: Stayed in room # 6 but all of the rooms seem to be up the highest quality.

I highly recommend the Orient Inn. My girlfriend and I stayed for a long weekend in September to escape the city. The house is lovely, the location is convenient and the breakfast was sublime.

There is a lot to do in the area. We had some of the best meals we've had in a while.
