Wade's Diner has been an Oswego tradition. This was our first time there in 20 years & it was just as good as we remembered. The appearance has not changed much, if at all, since we were last there. We arrived prepared to wait a bit [good things are worth the wait], then our party of eight decided to split up to be seated sooner. Those of us seated at the counter got the full show of the cooks working their magic. One of the waitresses has been there for 40 years & still memorizes her orders instead of writing them down. Great hearty brunch food and a lot of it. The chocolate-chip pancakes the kids ordered were large enough they needed us adults to help them finish [Oh, darn!]. The French toast, omelets and cinnamon-raisin toast were all also great. We will definitely come back.

While traveling thru Oswego we asked the locals where to have breakfast.
The answer was Wade's . This Diner has history. The service is spot on. The food is good and inexpensive. Only open from 6 a.m.until noon. The place started to fill up just before noon. We were 4 adults and we had cinnamon French toast on homemade bread. Steak and cheese omelet and two full breakfasts. The homemade bread was really good. The fake Maple syrup in gallon jugs definitely did not hit the spot. The place could really use a scrub. Refilled Ketchup bottles with dirty caps and syrup bottles that were sticky and crusted. If you are not too fussy and like homemade food I still recommend this piece of history. They only close 4 days a year and open at 7 a.m. on Sundays. Sure beats fast food.

On a visit to Oswego this past weekend, we decided to have breakfast at Wade's. While the decor was in dire need of updating and fitting 4 people in a booth was almost impossible, the food was extraordinary, and the waitress does not use paper checks, she remembers exactly what you had to eat! Amazing.

It is always a pleasure to eat Breakfast at Wade's The food is always good, the staff is always so friendly and service is consistently outstanding. The prices are so reasonable!! On this visit, the owner Tony was there working hard and making sure the customers were happy. This is a consistently good place to have breakfast and for sure it is the best breakfast in Oswego. Actually it is our favorite place for breakfast, but unfortunately we do not live in Oswego so we get there 4 or 5 times a year. If you have not eaten at Wade's, give it a try. You will not be disappointed.

Wade’s Diner is an eatery institution in Oswego. It’s the archetypal
greasy spoon – no high falutin’ décor, no chi-chi menu and no snotty
maitre d’; just down-home cooking done to perfection.
Visited Wade’s for the first time since my hippie/university days of the late 60s. Back then after a serious night of overindulgence at Bucklands or Nunzies, or the disco at Pin-a-rama a group of us would descend upon Wade’s at 2 or 3AM to satisfy our alcohol induced appetites. (back then it was open 24/7). Remember wonderful gut-busters like a platter of fries smothered in gravy or 3 egg omelet with a stack of pancakes or the sausage, biscuits and gravy were de rigueur munchies fare.
Upon my return, naturally for nostalgia’s sake I had to sample Wade’s biscuits and gravy just to see how well it held up to my alcohol tainted memories.
Amazingly, it did! When it comes to sausage, biscuits and gravy, nobody does them as
good as Wade’s Diner. They are working class, culinary bliss.
Now 45, 46 years after my hippie daze, Wade’s grub still can’t be beat.
