Almost all of the reviews of Silverstrand are of the B and B. We had the opportunity to rent the guest cottage for ourselves and our college age children.
After hours of searching on the Internet for our last minute trip, I found this place. Maura, the owner, was wonderful from beginning to end. Although the cottage is rented by the week, she was extremely flexible with our stay, as we could only come from Monday to Friday.
The cottage itself is as exactly as described and the pictures on the website are accurate. The cottage was the perfect size for us...three bedrooms and two bathrooms, so our daughter and son each had their own room. There is no wifi, but Maura gave us a Verizon hotspot to use, which was adequate. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils and appliances. Although not directly on the lake, there is a nice view from the porch, and the lake is a short walk away.
Maura was extremely helpful, as this was our first visit to this area. Her husband Skip runs Water to Wine Tours (see my review) which I would highly recommend. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to visit again!

We have stayed on four of the Finger Lakes at various B & B's. Silver Strand on Cayuga is by far our favorite place for a number of reasons. First Maura and Skip are great hosts. The accommodations are very comfortable and tastefully done. The breakfasts are delicious and plentiful to prepare us for the active days we spend in the area; Maura really makes an effort to prepare delicious breakfasts. We love to spend time in the water and the lake is right there with complimentary canoes, a paddleboat and the small private beach. The water is so clean and refreshing. The first thing I do when I arrive is jump in the water. It is fabulous! We didn't bring our own bikes at first, but they had bikes to use and the two mile ride along the lake is real easy and a great morning exercise routine we have come to look forward to when we are there. Sheldrake point is not far from many great restaurants and the short stroll to the Sheldrake winery every year is always fun and easy. A new discovery is the Cayuga Lake Creamery where there is really excellent ice cream at a good price for generous portions. Only problem is we have to spend more time walking or riding to work off the calories! No problem with that as we love to explore the incredible gorges that Ithaca is known for. Maura and Skip have been great hosts the two times we've been there. We look forward to next Summer for our yearly trek to the Finger Lakes Region.

Room Tip: All the rooms have private balconies with great views of the lake so you you'll be happy in any...

This large Victorian Bed and Breakfast is located right on the shores of Lake Cayuga. Our room was on the first floor and we could lay in bed and see the lake. We also had our own little private porch off the bedroom and the rooms upstairs had balconies with wonderful views of the lake. The bedroom was beautifully furnished and there was a large bathroom with a tub/shower. The lighting wasn't the best for reading and there was no tv in the room. The view alone was worth the price but there was a long dock and a pebble beach. There were kayaks, a canoe, a rowboat and a pedal boat available to use at no additional cost. There was a sun deck above the boat slip at the dock.We were given a card to put on our bedroom door indicating what time we would like coffee or tea brought to our room in the morning and the coffee was then left on a tray outside the door at the designated time. Maura, one of the owners, is a gourmet cook. The breakfasts were simply excuisite. One morning it was an egg souffle as the main dish and the next a poached egg inside a cup made of crisp hash brown potatoes. In addition, there was juice, coffee, fresh fruit salad, bagels and cream cheese and jam. This is only B &B I have stayed at that had ice buckets in the room and an ice maker to get the ice. If one is a wine fan this is a great place to stay as you are right in the middle of wine country. We took a wine tasting cruise by boat and visited three different wineries. I didn't partake of any of the wine but had lots of fun just riding in the boat and my wife enjoyed trying the many wines available. The setting of this place is sublime, Maura and Skip are as nice and as helpful as they could be and the breakfasts were as good as any you would have anywhere. This place was just terrific.

Room Tip: The room on the first floor is really a litle more convenient as you can go right out of your room a...

The Silver Strand is the perfect B&B! My husband and I found the Silver Strand over 10 years ago and have been going back every year. The location is awesome and the breakfast is out of this world!! Maura and Skip are the perfect hosts. Visiting the Silver Strand in the Finger Lakes is the highlight of our summer!

The B&B is in a great location for food and wine! Perfect get-a-way!

Room Tip: All the rooms offer a view of the lake!

I am so thrilled with my recent stay at the Silver Strand.

The house has the best location. It is right on Cayuga lake with no obstructions of the beautiful view. On the property, we took advantage of their private dock using their andoranak style chairs and the lounge chairs too. On the wrap around porch, we enjoyed the hammock which can hold two people and the outdoor dining tables. They also offered us bikes and boats too that we did not use.

We stayed in room 2 which has a queen bed, a jetted tub and a bowed balcony. The view was amazing. The room also had a air conditioner unit and a ceiling fan.

The owners Skip and Maura are dolls. They are so welcoming and delightful I wish I lived closer so I can hang out with them again! Maura's cooking is to die for. She bakes crumb cakes and croissants in addition to her unique egg dishes. Every morning, we would wake up wondering what Maura was going to have waiting for us.

If you are a coffee drinker, they offer coffee outside your door for you in the morning. It was such a treat to wake up, have coffee waiting for us, so would could sit back and enjoy our view before even leaving our room/balcony.

We truly were pleased with our stay and I hope it is not our last.

We were lucky and booked this place last weekend of the year. The room was beautiful and had a gorgeous view from inside as well as a stunning view from the outside balcony. Maura and Skip were so helpful. She had a delicious breakfast prepared both mornings. The house itself is wonderful and each room is filled with special details. On top of everything she gave some fantastic suggestions on wineries, restaurants, and other local places to visit. This was my second trip to the finger lakes and first to Cayuga and I cannot wait to return!

This B&B is such a lovely getaway and probably one of the closest properties to the lake, across all the places you can stay around the Finger Lakes. We stayed in Room 1 which is on the 1st floor and has a beautiful view overlooking the water. There’s also a glass door that leads directly to the porch where you can see the magnificent sunrise. Maude and her husband are excellent hosts and her breakfasts are exquisite! We stayed for 2 nights and she made amazing raspberry turnovers, egg & salsa tostada, cinnamon apple bread, and cheesy egg soufflé. One of the evenings we decided to stay in and make our own cheese and charcuterie board with an amazing bottle of Altamura. Maude gave us a lovely board to plate with and she had lovely round red wine glasses for us to use. We had a lovely evening in the living room which overlooks the stillness of the lake. The only minor glitch during our stay was that the water pressure was a bit low in the shower but this is definitely a B&B I would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing, peaceful, beautifully scenic place to stay with delicious breakfast!
