The Silver Strand has all the elements of a great lakefront B&B. It actually IS on the lakefront, and on a very quiet part of Lake Cayuga ideal both for sitting out on the (in our case) first-floor private verandah and for (again in our case) cycling along a really lovely beach road. The house is appealing and very evocative, with its exterior painted in pale pastels and individual balconies and verandahs, and an interior that is old-fashioned but artful and genuine, rather than the kind of fake Victorian knick-knackery and furbelows that we've all endured too often. And Maura's breakfasts are truly wonderful, as good as if not better than the claims on the website or the Trip Advisor comments of previous visitors. Best of all, I think, are Maura and Skip themselves--very professional hosts, helpful and knowledgeable and engaging, but clearly letting each guest determine the degree of interaction both with them and with other guests. We met other guests who were repeat visitors, and I can easily see why. We would definitely return as well.
