Driftwood Inn B&B was charming! The location was perfect, right on Cayuga Lake. The accommodations were great. We had the 'penthouse' Room 6 which was quite roomy, but the bathroom was small. Not a problem. We had a nice view of the lake from our bedroom. Even though we had to climb two flights of stairs to get to our room, we didn't mind at all and, in fact, we would definitely choose this room again! The breakfasts were delicious! We were able to skip lunch since they were so filling!! Tammy and Jim were great hosts. We want to go back!

The Driftwood Inn is a 7-rooms family-run B&B, located on the shore of Cayuga lake, operating since 1946, in the middle of the wine trail. (It also have several cottages, but I can't comment on these)

Hosts Tammy & Jim are very welcoming and attentive to their guests.

The rooms are comfortable and clean; the overall decor is grandma-ish but not worn-out. Classical B&B look.
No TVs in bedrooms but in the living room.

Breakfast was a different dish each morning, and one could request a special
coffee/tea, glass of juice, fruits, scrambled eggs or frittata, oatmeal, french toasts.
Not huge but enough for a good start of day.

Kayaks were available to guests at no extra cost. Free Wifi.

Price was very competitive compared to other B&Bs in the area which makes the Driftwood a good option. I would recommend it to my friends.

We arrived at the Driftwood Inn by boat, 'tho cars are surely the way folks usually arrive. Nevertheless, there is a fine (and long) pier with deep water that will will multiple boats with no problem. The Inn goes back - five generations back - to 1912. Owned from start to last by the same family, the latest owners - Tammy and Jim - take scrupulous care of it and offer a simple but fine breakfast as part of the B&B experience. Ours was blueberry pancakes. Yum! But what YOU want to know is info about the rooms, and the facilities. In short, the rooms are great and the view even better. Most rooms face the water and look directly north up Cayuga Lake. The view is unbroken water for some 25 miles. Those rooms are well appointed and spotlessly clean. My cousin's was a cheerful yellow and had a large window. Needless to say, she left the blinds and curtains open for the night...the better to catch the view as soon as she opened her eyes. Our room was not on the water. Instead, my wife opted for a room with a large jacuzzi tub set in the bathroom which was a side room to the main bedroom. Privacy and comfort. Miss the view? Nope. The Inn has a large porch that spans the front of the house and OUR waking moments were spent there sipping wine and drinking coffee. BUT if you wanted to there are also kayaks and a paddle boat to use in the protected waters of the cove on which the Inn sits. This was a fine stay. We'd dome back and likely will. Oh, and right up the road - a five minute walk away - the Sheldrake Winery. It has some good wines and their staff was excellent. We had our morning coffee at the Inn, hung out and relaxed and hit the winery when it opened. Then, back into the boat and on our way. A good visit from start to finish.

Room Tip: Any room on the front for the view; back room for the Jacuzzi tub.

If you enjoy being on a lakefront property in an area with natural beauty and a lot to do then this is the place! This is the only true lakefront property we found! I enjoyed being able to go kayaking steps from the back porch! We brought our own but they have kayaks for the guests too! Close by are wonderful hikes such as at Robert Treman park with many beautiful waterfalls to see. The Cayuga and Seneca Lake wine trails are very near by. In fact there was a winery right down the street from the Driftwood!
Tammy and Jim are wonderful hosts and Tammy serves up a wonderful breakfast every morning cooked by Jim! Definitely a culinary treat! Tammy also bakes cookies ever afternoon for the guests!
We stayed in room two which boasts a lake view! The rooms are comfortable and immaculate!

Room Tip: Room two was a great size, quiet with a lake view!

Absolutely beautiful setting directly on Cayuga Lake. We stayed in Room 5 and it was comfortable clean and updated with a king bed and big bathroom. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. Breakfasts were delicious. We took one of the kayaks available to guests out on the lake and had an amazing time. Convenient to Ithaca, wine tours, Watkins Glen and all the beauty of the Finger Lakes. Easy to book online. I am already dreaming of going back.

My mom booked this place for a weekend get away for the two of us. I had never stayed at a bed and breakfast before and I was skeptical. I'm not a person who really enjoys making friends on vacation and was worried about a lack of privacy. The Driftwood exceeded all of my expectations. Tammy and Jim were wonderful. They were very social and helpful and cooked a delicious breakfast. The room was gorgeous with a very comfortable bed and a jacusi bath (we stayed in room 5). The best part by far was the view from the porch. We were right on the lake (people even jumped in to go swimming). The sunsets were beautiful and we had a great time sitting and enjoying the view after a day of wine tasting. I felt very relaxed. The house never seemed crowded (in fact there were hours that we didnt even see anothe guest). For anyone who wants to get away for a relaxing weekend and enjoy the beautiful landscape I would highly recommend this location

Jim and Tammy are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. They take great pride in their inn, but more importantly, you can tell that they love what they do. They are fantastic hosts.

We actually arrived late Friday evening around 8. I had called ahead to inform Jim that we would be arriving a little late, and he had check in information all ready for me. We got there just in time to catch him before he retired for the evening. They live in a separate unit somewhere else on the property, I believe.

The property is amazing. The view of Lake Cayuga is breathtaking. I don't think you can fin many B+B's that sit ON the lake, but the Driftwood is ideal. They have a dock where you can pull your boat up to, and a long private beach that is great to skip stones in. We woke up early to see the sun rise. You have a great view of both the sunrise and sunset (in the summer at least).

The room was very clean, and above all, comfortable. I typically have trouble falling asleep, but I was out like a light. We stayed in Room 5 which has a private bathroom with a jacuzzi tub. Great room for a romantic getaway.

The breakfast is really good. There is a main dining room, where you can sit with other guests, or if you prefer a little privacy, there is another dining room with tables for two. Saturday morning, they made French Toast with fresh fruit. Sunday we had a crust less quiche with phenomenal cinnamon bread.

As far as location, there are a bunch of wineries nearby, and I believe a brewery or two. There is a really good ice cream place down the road a few miles, and a few nice restaurants in the area.

If you are looking to go hiking, it's within a reasonable distance to Taughannock State Park (which is a great hike), and a few other state parks with great trails.
