“If your looking for just above a dump”

The staff was wonderful and very friendly but the hotel is old and really needs updating. Our non smoking room wreaked of smoke and must. The walls and carpet were stained and the handle fell off the sink. The dresser and desk were stained, dented and very hard to open and smelled moldy so cloths were kept in our suitcases. The mattress was way too soft to sleep comfortably. Thank goodness I saw no bugs or we would have left. Air conditioning barely worked. Would not stay there again.

Excellent place for the money. The rooms are big enough, comfortable and clean and the staff is friendly. The free breakfast is fine for a free breakfast. It is easily located. Overall I would say that it is an excellent deal for the price of the room.

If you're looking for a budget hotel, the Corning Inn certainly fits the bill. Room was decently clean, the bathroom could have been a bit cleaner for this traveler's taste. Stayed in the smoking double Queen room (was very surprised to find a smoking room these days), which I'm happy to say did not STINK of cigarette smoke. We were on the second floor and this hotel has no elevator so be prepared to carry all your bags up the stairs! The beds were o.k. one was really hard and the other was quite soft, kind of light on the pillows though. There is a small fridge, microwave, and coffee maker in the room which is handy if you don't want to eat out. One packet of coffee, sugar, and non dairy creamer provided. Didn't care for the clothes rack which was in the corner next to fridge/microwave, hard to maneuver clothes on the rack without getting in the way of the refrigerator door. No place to put your suitcase though. The air conditioning worked well thank goodness as it was pretty hot and muggy the weekend we stayed, though the common areas of the hotel were not air conditioned! The chairs in the room were all stained as was the ironing board (yuk!). Advertised as free Wi-Fi and free breakfast, both leave much to be desired. We had no Wi-Fi the first day we checked in even after a call down to the front desk to be sure a code was not required. The following morning we took ourselves downstairs to the breakfast area and were pretty disappointed to find a loaf of wheat bread and some waffles to put in the toaster along with syrup, butter and jelly. Cereal, bananas, and mini muffins along with milk, OJ, and coffee completed the menu. All in all pretty slim pick ins! Total price paid for the night was $111 including tax, a little high for what we got. Would recommend if you are looking for a place to stay near the Corning Museum of Glass, and you can get the room for $65-$65 per night which is about what it's worth.

Room Tip: Get a room on the second floor, much quieter!

Stayed recently on our visit to Finger Lakes.Your basic needs are very well satisfied.Clean rooms, clean beds and clean towels.Plus a microwave oven and a refrigerator in the room and basic breakfast.Ample free parking. What more you need ?Husband and wife team of Kiran and Pragna manage it well.Very convenient location just off I-86.Ideal to visit Corning, Watkins Glen, Hammondsport, Geneva and other places around Seneca and Keuka lakes .
A surprise was the Walmart right across the street. This is superstore where you get everything-vegetables,grocery and even wine and liquer! So don't spend your money on those fancy restaurants on all days.On some evenings, get everything from Walmart and eat in your room.Don't forget to take a few dishes and containers to heat food in microwave. For those who like Olive Garden, it's near at Horseheads, about 15 minutes drive
The carpet in hallways is old and can't be cleaned. They should replace it with tiles.
Overall, excellent value for your money and great location for a budget-concious and cleanliness-concious traveller.

I stayed here when traveling to Upstate New York and Vermont this past weekend. It was a relatively inexpensive motel located in the Southern Tier region of NYS. It was as stated in my title for the reasons listed below-

*The overall price of the hotel after taxes was $73, a fair price for a Friday Night in New York State.
*The motel was a 2 story basic walkup
*The front desk staff was courteous, friendly, and always available.
*Each room came with a small fridge, microwave, desk, dresser, tv, bathroom with amenities, and can be smoking or nonsmoking. The overall quality of items was a little used but nothing terrible.
*The motel rooms overall were at only a minimum standard level of cleanliness at best.
*The carpeting, motel entrances, and corridor areas could've been nicer and cleaner.
*The motel appeared to have once been a Super 8.
*The Parking lot was small but efficiently lit.
*The checkout was convienent and hassle free.

Overall if coming to the Southern Tier area, I would recommend this place to someone looking for a basic accommodation who was not expecting anything extravagant.

Room Tip: Credit Card Reservations require a 72 hour cancellation and the rooms alternate between smoking and...

Nice people running the place--just needs a bit more in the way of renovations
(clean or discard filthy room chair, scrub mildew off tub surround seams, wipe down the
breakfast area vending containers). New blankets and comforters are needed,
but for $55 a nite, can't expect everything to be perfect.
The shower was great (even with the mildew).
As others have reviewed, I was on the first floor and SASQUATCH must've been
roaming around in the room above me (till 2 a.m.). Crazy noisy. NOT the hotel's
fault--heavy walkers should think before they tromp around like that!
Might stay elsewhere next time, if I want to cough up three times the cost!

We used the Corning Inn as a staging area for our Finger Lakes waterfall sightseeing. If you keep in mind that it is a rebranded Motel 6 and therefore expect just basic accommodations then you won't be disappointed. Our room was comfortable with just basic furnishings. We slept well and awoke to basic breakfast fare. A lot of truckers use the inn due to its close proximity to Interstate 86. And for that very same reason we stayed here due to the inn's location which was ideal for our touring in the area. Also across the street is a Super Walmart and an Applebees restaurant...and we used both.
