We have a part-time home in Palenville and have eaten at Fernwood many times over the past few years. Our main residence is Greenwich Village, NYC, so the expectations from a restaurant are high.
Our visits to Fernwood have been charming and, for the most part, delicious. The food is quite good and nicely presented. I have particularly liked the pasta and the steak dinners. The staff shows a genuine desire in preparing the best food they can and taking good care of you.
The ambiance is most pleasant. The building appears to be an old inn, across the street from the Katterskill, at the lower end of the Clove. There is a separate room serving as a bistro/bar/tavern which we have not made use of. All in all, it is a very nice experience. We are going out tonight to one of my favorite restaurants in NYC but I would really prefer to be going to Fernwood.
