Recommended length of visit: 1-2 hours
Owner description: Explore a half-mile long ridge of 60-foot high rock forming crevices, passageways, and caves hidden in an ancient forest! Located just 15 minutes from Chautauqua Lake, Panama Rocks is one of the top-rated attractions in Chautauqua County based on independent reviews on TripAdvisor. The Panama Rocks formations are surrounded by a one mile long hiking trail, but most guests enjoy going off of the main trail to explore! Visitors spend anywhere from one hour to the entire day having fun and exploring the park. Picnic tables are available. The trail is relatively easy to hike (Class 1) and guests of all ages enjoy it, but there are roots, rocks, and uneven ground; it is still a hiking trail! Plan your trip to explore one of the most fun and popular "things to do" in Western New York today!

“Great time to explore the rocks and enjoy nature at it's best!”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

Nice day trip down to Chautauqua Lake area and did some hiking at Panama Rocks. The general trail is no more than 1-2 miles but the best part is exploring the "nooks and crannies" of the rock formations. Amazed at how the trees have grown up along the sides of many of these big rocks. Very beautiful examples of nature. The owners were very friendly and informative. For the same price of going to a matinee movie, you can be outside enjoying the fresh air and hidden treasures of Panama Rocks.

“A big surprise!”
Reviewed 4 June 2014

I grew up in Panama and although I live nearly 500 miles away, I go back as often as I can. Driving through the area, you would never imagine what is behind those trees up on the hill. After arguing about "who" the community should be named after, a traveler said "Why don't you name it Panama and then you will have Harmony." The traveler likened the rock formations to those he saw in the area of the Panama Canal. So the Village was named Panama and the Township was named Harmony. Panama Rocks is a beautiful, peaceful place to visit with many surprises.

“A Nature Lover's Hike in Chautauqua”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

Chautauqua county NY is known for its natural beauty, and when Chautauquans want to see natural beauty, they go to "the rocks". My wife and her family have told me about it for years, and this year we finally went. The mile long trail is a moderate hike, but the opportunities to literally "get off the beaten path" are innumerable. Jonathan was helpful and knowledgeable about the park. On the hike, nooks and crannies, towering rock faces and beautiful trees and roots make for a wonderful, relaxing time in the beautiful woods of Chautauqua.

My cousin heard about this place on channel two and we had been looking for new places to go so we took the drive out and we were not disappointed! It is absolutely beautiful! There's a distinct path you follow but all the fun is had climbing in and around the rock formations! The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Great experience! We plan on going back. “Great for everyone”
Reviewed 26 May 2014

We have been going to Panama Rocks for years. It is a great day trip for people of all ages. You can follow the mile long path and enjoy the beautiful views and wildlife or be braver and climb in the giant rocks and all their crevices. Plan on at least 90 minutes to really enjoy this or bring a picnic and spend the day. Very well cared for, owners are extremely friendly and courteous. Clean restrooms available on site.
