While conducting training at Keuka College for Disaster Management International, we choose to stay at Steamboat Castle. We could not have made a better choice. The accommodations were more than advertised and the breakfasts were diverse and delicious. The owners made us all feel at home and were gracious to let us use other areas of the B&B for small group meetings. Our room overlooked the lake and the sound of water lapping on the rocks was a pleasant way to drift off to sleep each evening. I would highly recommend this B&B for either a pleasure trip or a work related trip.

Room Tip: Each room has a private bath and either private or adjoining porches. We enjoyed the adjoining area...

Steamboat Castle is a beautifully restored bed and breakfast on Keuka Lake. Our hostess, Ginny, was exceptional in the way she attended to our every need. The B&B is spacious, offering two floors of relaxing couches and chairs. We took full advantage of the available kayaks to enjoy the lake. Our bed was comfortable, the room was spotless, and the bathroom was spacious. Our favorite memories are the amazing breakfasts. We were fortunate to get the last batch of her homemade grape juice which was bottled from local fruit. But, there is a surprise to be had in every breakfast, from homemade sausage to signature dishes like apple filled pancakes, quiches, roasted vegetables, and homemade muffins.

This B&B is

Room Tip: Some rooms have an unobstructed view of the lake. Definitely worth it.

We stayed for 3 nights and our stay exceeded our expectations. The house is beautiful with many places to relax and enjoy the beautiful view of Keuka lake, but the feature that put them over the top was the two course gourmet breakfast each day. Way more than what you would expect from a B&B. The amenities were great too, a canoe a kayaks are available for venturing out on the lake. For cool evenings there is a fire pit or hot tub to use all with views of the lake. We enjoyed fishing from the two docks and watching the moon rise over the lake. We will definitely try to get when we can and would recommend them to anyone.

The gold standard for B&Bs. The owners are delightful and take attention to detail to a 5-star level. We stayed 5 nights and enjoyed sumptuous two-course breakfasts. Take your time and enjoy the experience chatting it up with the other guests and the owners - Ginny and Jaime. This is a destination, not just a place for an overnight or two. This place is right on Keuka Lake and the views are just outstanding. These folks have a wonderful beagle, Samantha - best B&B dog, hands down. We'll be back!

Room Tip: Choose the Cricket room if you want the great view.

We recently spent a night at the Steamboat Castle Bed & Breakfast at Penn Yan, NY. This was our first visit to the Keuka Lake area, and we are anxious to return for a longer stay.

Our B&B experience was fantastic. We would definitely choose this same location when we visit again. The entire building was recently remodeled (obviously with great attention to detail and a strong sense of design—both form and function). We enjoyed learning about the custom concrete countertops and decorative patio pavers that Jamie (one of the hosts) created himself.

The room we chose, the Halsey, is cozy but well appointed. Everything was spotlessly clean, the towels were thick, there was a Keurig for coffee, the toiletries were wonderfully fragrant. The décor was pleasing with an antique dresser and wood plank floors which were probably original to the building. Ample windows curtained with lace valences offered beautiful lake views from two sides of the building.

The Halsey has a private balcony with a view of the lake. What would have been a direct lake view is slightly obstructed by a castle-like turret on the lake side of the building, but there is still plenty of “view” around the side. The Halsey is on the 3rd floor, so keep that in mind if you’re thinking of packing one huge heavy suitcase. Although it was nice to have a private balcony, we used the public patio and deck areas more than our balcony.

Kayaks and fishing gear were available for guests, swimming from the dock in the clear lake water was fantastic. We didn’t get a chance to try the Jacuzzi overlooking the lake, but it looked like a perfect spot to relax.

The choices of indoor public areas were plentiful and beautifully decorated, providing yet more views of the lake through ample windows.

There were a variety of options for outdoor seating on a multi-level patio leading down to the lake where two docks offered additional chairs. The outdoor landscape was surrounded by well-maintained plantings interspersed between patios and around the perimeter. .

In the evening, several couples who were guests that night congregated around the gas fire pit for conversation, where we were joined by our friendly hosts Ginny and Jamie. Their friendly and hospitable presence is obviously part of the appeal of this gem of a location.

Breakfast was wonderful with a variety of delicious items artfully presented. Ginny is clearly an accomplished chef! We absolutely loved everything about this place and are trying to make an excuse for a return visit with friends or family in the near future.

Room Tip: Don't hesitate to stay here regardless of which room you'll be in-the property is gorgeous...

Steamboat Castle is a perfect relaxing getaway. The inn is clean and beautiful and Ginny has thought of everything a visitor might want. The view of the lake is lovely. The patio and the docks onto the lake are a great place to relax. The lounge areas are so inviting and comfortable for reading or just watching the world go by on Keuka Lake. Breakfasts are delicious! Ginny is so attentive to all her guests, offering them brochures and suggestions are where to go for golf, wineries, restaurants etc. We will surely consider going back next summer.
