Reasonably priced. Well kept. Beautiful area. I will definitely be returning to this lodge. Brian and his wife are fantastic. My wife and I loved everything about this place. Its a great place to get away anytime of year.

Let's start off by saying to all the City Slickers - if you're looking for marble bathrooms, I suspect you won't find that in the Catskills. But if you're fine with a small, cozy, clean cabin, with nice people at the helm, then you'll be happy here.

We stayed here for the proximity to hiking, and a quick respite away. There is no cell service in most of the town, but the hotel had good Wi-Fi. We did the 1 mile walk to town for dinner. Its a cute little town, and we returned there the next morning for gas and a treat upon departure.

The cabin was small but clean, had flat screen TV, and picked up the Wi-Fi. The (free) breakfast in the office area was great: fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, food bars, and very good coffee. They gave us a great area map for hiking. We finished our coffee on the front porch outside our cabin.

We would definitely come back..

My son and I spent four nights, using the Lodge as a base for exploring many trails and views. We had a small, but more than adequate motel unit with two very comfortable twin beds; cabin #9. Very clean, away from the road noise, 0.5 mi from the village. Short walk to classic scenery.
Continental breakfast was generous with lots of choices. This is a family owned and managed operation by a couple who make guests welcome to their home. Very friendly energetic people. No cell phone service in the Catskills, but WiFi, cable TV, long distance telephone worked for our needs.

As the second part of a trip to the USA, with the first half being around Kissimmee, Phoenicia Lodge provide the perfect antidote to Florida - a haven in the mountains.

There is really very little to fault about the whole setup here, as long as you're looking for clean and rustic accommodations with a chance to spend more time outdoors in the lovely Catskills. We hiked, swam, photographed and ate within 30 minutes of the Lodge so nothing is far away.

The owners are lovely, providing local maps and advice for our hiking, and we spend the evenings around the large campfire, meeting other residents and sharing stories and a beer.

You do need to know, however, is that the cottages are tight; if it had rained for a few days then a family of four would have struggled to keep from under each others feet in the only 2 bed cottage. In July, however, there was no need to be indoors.

After hours there was complete silence. Even though there are roads nearby they didn't even disturb our sleep.

Doller Taco Night in Phoenicia is worth a look!

So, 4 1/2 starts really, but I don't get that choice!

Room Tip: The cottages/cabins all overlook the garden and fire pit. The motel rooms are nearer the road and pa...

My son (9) and I just recently stayed here for a "last week before school" adventure and had an amazing time. The cabins are immaculately clean, have everything you need and are super comfortable. They even had a little grill outside where we roasted hot dogs and fresh corn from the local market.

The staff is very friendly and offers great recommendations about the area (and printed maps and did research for us). They sent us to "North South Lake" for canoeing and hiking and it was just a breath-taking place. It takes a lot to get a 9-year-old, city kid to appreciate the outdoors, but even he was wowed by the sights.

The cabins are just a short way from the main road in Phoenicia, which has terrific restaurants and shops..be sure to try Brio's Pizza, Sweet Sue's and the Phoenicia diner) and lots of opportunities to skip rocks on the Esopus creek. Tubing would have bene fun..but sadly, you have to be 12 years old.

We will be back..

My husband , I and our old lady dog traveled here just this week . The cabin was very clean  and kind of retro . We stayed in cabin #4,  the space was just enough for the three of us , but tight ( as I'm 5-11 and my husband 6-3 ).  The bathroom was a bit snug especially the shower , but again we are large people .

The photos on the website was nearly exactly what we encountered .  All the linens were new and well maintained . Although internet and phone reception were spotty they are attempting to meet the need with new hot spots .  The internet works best if you are outside or in the lobby of the main building .

I was happily surprised by the coffee and simple breakfast options in the lobby .

Just a few things . It wasn't as secluded as I would have liked you can hear traffic driving by . The communal fire pit was rather close to the cabins and always occupied  .  And  it was a bit more family friendly then we would have liked . That said we will  return :)

Stayed here recently for a short family trip of hiking and swiming. We staying in cottage 5. Two bedrooms kitchen and a futon. The cottage was perfect for our family of four. Clean and simple. Just what we were expecting. The kitchen had all the amenities and was perfect for fixing dinners that we had at the picnic table outside. Brian and Sarah were helpful with ideas of where to go and what to do. We had a bit of rain and they told us to head to Hyde Park to the FDR home which was perfect in the rain. They serve a great continental breakfast with coffee bagels oatmeal yogurt which helped get the day off to a great start and since they were there we got to pepper them with questions about the area which they have a love for and an encylopedic knowledge about. The lodge is right on Route 28 but you dont hear the road. The only complaint my kids had were loud birds in the early morning. There is a fire pit and hammocks. It is truly a wonderful place.
