“Great B&B in the Hudson Valley!”
Reviewed 3 March 2013

We just got back from a wonderful weekend at the Pine Bush House. It was our first time at a B&B, but Barbara and Mark were wonderful hosts! The decor was beautiful--warm and inviting, with the quaint, antiquey atmosphere you would expect from a B&B, but combined with the most modern amenities. It seemed that no detail had been overlooked. We especially loved the steam shower in the Zinfandel suite and the Apple TV system. The food was delicious. Barbara certainly knows her way around delicious breakfasts! Also loved the afternoon cookies.

We can't wait to return!

My husband and I stayed at the Pine Bush house for one night. We wanted to try out a bed and breakfast because we have never been. And we are so happy we did! Barbara and Mark are amazing! The house is incredible! So beautiful! The rooms are peaceful retreats! We stayed in the Zinfandel suite and couldn't be happier. It was light and airy! Beautiful bathroom with a steam shower. The bed was very comfortable! There is a wine chiller, coffee maker (with amenities) and water in the suites. Mark suggested a few restaurants in town for dinner and we took his advice and tried the Old Grist Mill. We loved it! Mark and Barbara were sweet and helpful throughout our stay. Barbara made a to die for chocolate tart in the afternoon. They have a coffee/tea station set up for you at all times as well as a candy bar. They thought of everything! Breakfast is beyond scrumptious! We started out with chopped apples, with drizzled cloverleaf honey sprinkled with walnuts!!! Next was an egg frittata with bacon and asparagus, tomato hash and two delicious biscuits with strawberry thyme butter! Outrageous! Our only complaint is that we had to leave! We will be back and next time, for a longer stay! Can't wait! And cannot thank them enough :0)

Having stayed at the house in late July we couldn't wait to come back. Well, another weekend of needed R&R as well as another fantastic massage at Mohonk brought us back. And despite being in the middle of the gas crisis it was worth it (actually gas was easy to come buy out there). Anyway what can I say- when we walked in and saw Barbara I exclaimed "we're home". And home it certainly felt like. The house and town as beautiful as ever. The jacuzzi as remarkable as always, and Barbara's recipe for maple soaked French toast topped with pecans is not to be believed. If she decides to ever serve breakfast to people not staying at the B&B I will drive up a couple of times a month. Well, they are closed for the holidays and a much needed rest, but we can't wait for our next trip home. 5 stars doesn't do them justice. All reviews are excellent. Stay there and you will see why. If you read this guys, have a happy New Year.

If you are shopping around for a B&B to stay at in the Hudson Valley area, you can stop right here. This was our first stay at a B&B after looking for a quiet getaway for the weekend. We decided on this one after pouring over reviews of about a half dozen places. We're glad we did. We hardly got out of our car, and Barbara was at the front stairs to greet us and offer to help us in with our stuff. After getting in, she gave a the tour of the house, and genuinely told us to treat her house as if it were ours. We immediately felt comfortable.

The house is warm, soothing, and peaceful. Candles are lit everywhere, but not to the point of looking macabre. Every subtle touch is perfect. I'm a big fan of woodwork, and couldn't keep my eyes off every detail. Hard wood floors, oak banisters, heavy mantles, it was all perfect.

Our room was great, (the Zinfandel Suite). The bed was firm but comfy. White silky drapes covered the windows, and heavy cast iron radiators kept the room toasty. A ceiling fan and A/C were available if needed, all controlled by remote, as well as the electric fireplace and flat screen tv. The bathroom was rather small, but was updated with new fixtures as well as an awesome shower complete with a sauna spout which provides a wonderful steam if that's what you want. Then came breakfast.

The first morning brought a cup of freshly cut apples and walnuts drizzled with honey. This was followed by a dish of eggs fritata made with fresh asparagus, cheese, and bits of bacon. Coffee was help yourself with a machine that can make your type of coffee from a Dunkin style right down to an espresso. A coffee machine was also available in room for those who can't wait for breakfast. Morning two brought a French toast souffle draped in freshly whipped cream and covered with fresh strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. A side of thickly cut bacon rounded out this delicious offering. In the afternoon, there is always freshly baked cookies or fudge available for the taking. AND THEY"RE GOOD!!!

Barbara's husband, Mark, was as helpful as could be. He asked us if we had plans for the day, and offered some suggestions. He printed out destination points and offered his opinions on what he thought we might enjoy, but was never pushy.

We recommend this B&B highly. You won't be dissappointed.

The Pine Bush House Bed & Breakfast is simply amazing! I recently stayed there with my husband while celebrating our four year wedding anniversary. We're in our mid-thirties and my husband wasn’t sure he wanted to stay at a bed & breakfast because he was concerned it would be like staying at his parents' house. That may be true at some places, but not at the Pine Bush House! The owners, Barbara and Mark, don't live in the main house, they live in a separate smaller home behind the main house. Barbara and Mark are very warm and welcoming and respect your privacy.

Our experience began when we called to make a reservation. Barbara was very kind, accommodating and attentive. We booked the Vineyard Retreat Suite. The suite is on the top floor, takes up the entire floor, and consists of two bedrooms (one with a queen size bed and one with two twin beds) and one full-size bathroom. We opted to use only the queen size bed and so Barbara reduced the price of our stay since we weren't using the room with the twin beds. This is a very nice option!

We chose the Pine Bush House because we were taking a road trip from our apartment in Brooklyn, NY to the Finger Lakes, and we wanted to make a stop at the Mohonk Preserve and spend a night in the Hudson River Valley. From Brooklyn, it took us just 2 hours to drive north to the Mohonk Preserve (which is right next to the Minnewaska State Park). We spent about 3 hours hiking there in the afternoon - it was mid-October and the trees were gorgeous! From there, it was only a short 20 minute drive to Pine Bush.

When we arrived, Barbara immediately welcomed us and took us inside to a plate of fresh-baked homemade chocolate chip walnut cookies - honestly, the best homemade cookies I think I've ever had, we each ate four of them! Mark gave us a quick tour around. On the main floor of the house is a reading room with plenty of good books and an Apple computer for guests to use. In the dining room is a beautiful hutch offering a well-stocked, self-service setup of a variety of coffee, teas, hot chocolate and all the accoutrements, which are available 24/7 and they have to-go cups (they have truly thought of everything)! They even have a candy table! There are little touches everywhere that make this place so special.

The house is decorated very nicely, not overdone. The rooms are very cozy - very comfortable beds, soft linens, robes, electric fireplaces, and flatscreen TVs with cable and Apple TV. Each room also has its own coffee maker and bottled water. The bathrooms are spotless (very clean) and have plush towels, shampoo, conditioner, bath soap, makeup remover cloths, night light, and even Charmin toilet paper (I was shocked at their attention to detail)!

We ate dinner at the Old Grist Mill, which is about a ten minute drive away. The food was good and just about fell out of our chairs when we saw the portions - huge is an understatement! I recommend sharing an entree. After dinner we went back to Pine Bush and walked around the neighborhood. There are lots of well-kept, cute homes. The town is a bit sleepy and it was sad to see that a couple restaurants and businesses were closed due to a poor economy.

My favorite experience with our stay was in the evening after we came back from dinner, the entire first floor of the house was lit with a ton of tealight candles. It was simply beautiful and so soothing and relaxing. The night was very quiet. We slept with the windows open and there wasn't any street noise. We never heard any of the other 6+ guests on the floor below us. In the morning they play very nice, soothing music on the main floor of the house. I sat in the living room and read the morning paper while sipping hot tea. Then, for breakfast, they presented us with the most fabulous pecan-crusted french toast with fresh berries and cream. It was delicious and kept us full for our 4 hour drive further north to the Finger Lakes.

I didn't want to leave and I can't wait to visit again. This place far exceeds even the comforts of your own home!

Room Tip: The Vineyard Retreat Suite is on the top floor of the house and is the only suite up there, it inclu...

My husband and I love bed and breakfast inns. We're not very demanding guests, but we do have high expectations if they ever want us back. This place didn't disappoint! Cozy and beautifully decorated, both the bedrooms and the common rooms. Breakfasts were scrumptious. The owners were very gracious very helpful with advice on activities in the area, incuding good directions! Also provided restaurant recommendations for the exact atmosphere we were looking for. I'm just sorry that we only had a weekend to spend, and we booked kind of last minute --- would gladly have sprung for a pricier room with the little gas fireplace, if they weren't already taken!

I do hope to return, so we can spend an evening or two on the gorgeous front porch!

We had a fantastic stay at Pine Bush House in early September. The house was beautifully renovated and Barbara and Mark were wonderful hosts - from the delicious breakfast, to the fabulous bathroom amenities in the Champagne Suite, to the custom itinerary they created for us to explore the area. Highly recommended!

Welcome to Pine Bush House Bed & Breakfast, a charming and romantic Victorian home built in 1904. The Inn's quiet elegance has long made it a favorite for honeymoons, anniversaries, and other special getaways. One of the innumerable ways in which we provide exemplary service to our guests is by anticipating their every need. In some cases, that need comes in the form of a request for a "permanent vacation." When this happens, generally we hear a long, contented sigh, followed by an "I wish I never had to leave." ... more   less
