“Lovely place, GREAT breakfast”
Reviewed 21 June 2011

The house is a restored Victorian with a beautiful porch and gorgeous garden. We stayed in the Sleigh room, which was very comfortable and had a huge, modern bathroom. The atmosphere of the place is quiet comfort.

The hosts, Donna & Rick were quiet, hospitable, and efficient. They, along with Chloe, their charming mini schnauzer, made us feel welcome & very glad we found the place.

Saving the best for last: breakfast. It was delicious, creative, and plentiful.

If you're looking for a inviting, relaxing, and pampered experience, Rufus Tanner House is for you! My husband and I were in New York for a color tour and stayed at Rufus Tanner for 3 nights. It exceeded our expectations! The house is very warm and inviting. Donna serves an amazing breakfast each morning and each of the three mornings was different. Rick and Donna are very gracious and make you feel right at home. Their attention to detail is amazing--they've thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. At the end of a day of sight-seeing we looked forward to coming back to the inn and just relaxing by the fire with complementary snacks and beverages. I highly recommend this B&B!

We were very impressed with Rick and Donna's place, along with dog Chloe. At first, as we drove up, we felt a little anxious because the immediate neighborhood does not do the place justice. But, look beyond that, get inside and you will definitely enjoy a superb place, great hospitality, and very creative breakfasts. We are very pleased we found the place.

Great value and a superb place to spend time.

Warmed by the comfort of our spacious fireplace room, quiet, and sleep inducing bed we couldn't have been happier. Donna is the ultimate breakfast chef, a pro. Had we stayed longer than our 2 nights I would have had to begin my diet. The addition of clever and well behaved little pup Chloe and the 2 almost invisible cats made the setting complete. I savored much needed sleep.

Their country location easily convenient to our desired Corning made us doubly glad to be removed from the buses and people and noise and run of the mill hotel options. Choosing Rufus Tanner was a no brainer when checking the options and the perfect one for us. Detailed directions, restaurant recommendations, and efficient emails made our visit easy and delightful. This is a perfect place to unwind. And what a great value!!

My husband and I had a wonderful two-night stay at this peaceful haven. We have been in more than 20 B&B's over the years and this was one of the few where we'd make a return visit. It was very relaxing, comfortable and serene....and clean! We loved being away from it all, able to sit in the swing with a good book and let time tick by. Breakfasts were delicious and memorable. Donna is quite the gracious host - never intrusive, but always accommodating. We'd definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a quiet little romantic getaway or an out-of-the-way place to recharge the batteries....
