“Truck workers campground”
Reviewed 21 October 2013

The only rv parking available is at the top of a fairly steep hill. This gets you away from the hundred or so truck, workers, campers who stay there and work in the area. Not a really nice quaint place to stay because of this. If you want to take a walk, must walk up and down steep hill to your site. Ok place if you have to ben the area, but would opt for another place.

Room Tip: I would opt for one of the two or three other campgrounds in the area.

I enjoyed our stay here. The sites are large with plenty of space between other sites. Most sites were wooded and gave you a feel of being in a park setting. Very family/pet friendly. The grounds were clean and maintained. Great gift shop! The staff were very nice. A bit pricey, but, I think that keeps away all the young camper's looking to party all night long! I would stay here again. The location is perfect for upstate activities but is far from NYC, about 1hour 20 mins.

We stayed at the Newburgh/New York KOA in late September of 2013 since it is the only campground which was along our route. It is approximately 9 miles north of I-84 through several stop lights and busy traffic which makes it inconvenient. For a 50 amp back-in site in the Fall when many of it's amenities were unavailable we still had to pay $61.00, which I feel is far too much for what we got in return - a gravel parking lot on which to stay overnight. I would not recommend this campground.

After visiting many KOS's this Summer on our US road trip from Canada, this one was by far the most superior. An excellent base also to get the train into New York ,Manhattan. All the campground facilities were excellent, especially the pools and the morning pancakes ! Staff ALL very friendly and efficient.

Room Tip: We were in a 5 th wheel camper and stayed at two different sites, both spacious and private

After camping for the weekend, decided to read the reviews after camping and the reviews as mixed as they appear are fairly accurate. The prices, per extra child and resort fee does make it pricey per night($85+). The resort fee which is for the amenities that need to be improved. The mini-golf is a mess, all the basketballs are useless, rental bikes were in bad shape and did NOT have flags on them so you can see them. Can't buy 2 $10 basketballs for use with the resort fee? The firewood was wet and moldy. No KOA escort to site. The positives was jumping pillow was a hit and kids loved it, the sites have all gravel so no bugs/mud, sites are fairly large so have room at least on left side of campground, free pancakes in morning, firetruck ride, garbage pails on every site, & bathrooms were clean. Staff was very friendly but did not notice any security. Did not experience any late night parties or noise where we were. The only reason I would stay again is it is so close but chances I would try elsewhere. Did not seem to live up to the KOA experience. We have done 4 other KOAs this year and this was not in the same league.

My husband and I want camping there on Aug 23 and 24. We made the reservation because whenever we camped in Canada at KOA the staff seemed to be in control of noise. Well not here. The campers behind us decided that they should entertain everyone in the campgroud with their loud music until will after 10:00 O'clock. They were not young people but middle aged. They should now better. The next day we complained at the office. Again around 6:00, they decided to play the music loud. No one came from the office to tell them to turn it down. Finally, I want over to ask them to turn it down some. One man was OK with it but the other man was not to happy. I was nerves with the man who was annoyed that not everyone wants to listen to his music. A half an hour later he turned it up again. About 1/2 later again the music was off and I am assuming that the staff asked them to turn it down. I did note that the children camping there seem to be having a good.

The main problem is that they don't enforce their rules, it's suggested rules. If you go on a weekend, you'll have to make people who are partying until late in the night. I was king of worrying for my teens to go alone to the restroom, just because you never know with drunk people. But beside that, on the weekdays, it's a charming campground, nice campsite and clean bathroom. Never ran out of hot water, if there was a problem with their facilities, they would fix it right away. But if peoples were the problem... they were helpless. So it depends on the king of campers you are!
