Top notch beautiful, friendly. Thx so much. The rooms were large, clean and comfortable. The fireplace was a welcome addition.

Stayed with Chreston and Andrea for only 2 nights - wish it had been more but we didn't know how good it is! They are great hosts and the lodge is superb. The information provided about the area is excellent, the lodge is in a lovley and very convenient location - would highly recommend it withour the slightest reservation.

Room Tip: From what I could tell, all the rooms are great

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Point Au Roche Lodge in july this past year as a stop-over between locations. We wanted at least one night to relax and enjoy ourselves in a low stress environment and that's exactly what we got. We stayed in the Weaver room and enjoyed the quiet from our in-room jacuzzi. The bed was comfy and the room was well decorated. The owners were friendly but not obtrusive and cooked delicious breakfast to order the following morning. We would absolutely stay again if and when we find ourselves in the Plattsburgh area again.

Seriously! Karen is a great hostess and gives terrific suggestions for how to get there et al, Creston makes delicious 5* breakfasts (best ever! Blueberry pancakes, Citrus French toast, yummy Frittatas). Our Quilter Room was comfy, quiet, clean and spacious — We'll definitely be back. Walk across to the Wildlife Viewing and enjoy walks along the trails to the Lake. Drive a few minutes to Plattsburg Museums and eateries. Just a little longer and you're in Vermont, Montreal or the Adirondacks.

My wife and I, along with four other couples, recently had a delightful experience at the Point Au Roche Lodge in Plattsburgh, NY, a few miles north of the small city. We take a five day trip together with friends each August and this was our 21st year to do that. The Inn is directly across from a state park with miles of walking trails and a beach on Lake Champlain. The inn has eight rooms with two levels of facilities - all rooms have en suite, but four are larger with more extensive facilities (e.g. large whirlpool tubs). In any event, the beds are remarkably comfortable and the rooms well appointed. The chairs are comfortable, the lighting is good, the widows have shades to limit the morning light, the rooms have night lights and flashlights are available. We arrived in the aftermath of hurricane Irene with, for a little while, no electricity and were treated to candles, lanterns and kindness. This is without question one of the best inns we have ever experienced.

There is a large and comfortable sitting area (great room) that is set up so that there can be two or three clusters of people who do not interfere with each other. There is also an outside screened round porch that can readily take 10 to 12 people. Adjacent to the great room is a small library room with books, a computer and printer, refrigerator for guest use, a microwave oven, plastic utensils and paper plates, etc. There is also a restroom off the great room for the convenience of guests. There is also free wireless access to the web for those who bring their own computers. Also adjacent to the great room is the breakfast area with tables and chairs that are set up for two or four, but movable, so that groups can choose to dine together, e.g. six or even more. Coffee and hot water are available at 7, with breakfast between 8 and 9. There is no specific time; arrive between 8 and 9 and you will have breakfast cooked just for you.

The breakfast is something special. The host, Creston, fresh cooks each breakfast to order and there are typically two choices that change daily. The breakfasts are superb. For example one might have a mushroom, onion and cheese omelet (with your choice of two or three eggs), or a perfect waffle with blueberries. Any such dish is accompanied with strictly fresh and freshly cut fruit of various sorts and bacon, nice thick sliced bacon; juice is also served, typically with two choices. Another day might have banana pancakes as one of the options with a different sort of egg dish. The list goes on. As noted, each is superb, perfectly cooked and delicious. The coffee is very good and there is a good selection of teas. And until 8 PM a selection of beers and wines is available by the bottle for those who might want that before heading out to dinner. The inn is strictly non-smoking indoors.

The hostess, Karen, has wide knowledge of the area and cheerfully dispenses useful information as needed. She knows the local restaurant scene and maintains a large collection of up to date menus for the use of guests. Karen has the perfect balance for a hostess of an inn; remarkably personable and helpful, but never intrusive. And, she cares about her guests in a special way, interested in how the restaurant was the previous night, what plans might be for the day, and how she might be helpful. Spend an few days with Karen and Creston and you will begin to think of them as friends, friends you have known far longer than you have.

All in all, this is one first class inn, with wonderful innkeepers. You will travel far and wide before you find another experience as nice as the one you will have at Point Au Roche Lodge.

Room Tip: All rooms are fine and comfortable; some simply larger than others with whirlpool tubs.

Had a wonderful 3 night stay at the lodge. If you want peace and quiet this is the place. State park across from the lodge, free access to hiking trails, great views of Lake Champlain.

Rooms are large for a B&B all with private bath and super views. Breakfasts are scrumptious and plenty, prepared by Creston. Extremely large shared guest living room, fireplace, balcony and comfy furniture. Access to a guest fridge and microwave ( we decided to eat on our balcony one evening). 10 minutes to great restaurants in downtown Plattsburgh, 1 hour to Lake Placid.

A great get away ! Exceptional hosts Karen and Creston!

This was our first visit to the Point Au Roche Lodge and we will definitely be back - we were satisfied with every aspect of our visit. The lodge is conveniently located, walking distance to Point Au Roche State Park, only about fifteen minutes by car to the center of the City of Plattsburgh, and only about one minute by car to Lake Champlain. The structure is uniquely designed, highlighted by a high-ceilinged, bright and airy main room which contains a suspended walkway leading to a deck offering relaxing views from Adirondack chairs. We stayed in the Quilter room and had two peaceful and comfortable nights of sleep. Everything was tastefully decorated and very clean, and the breakfasts were delicious. Karen and Creston, the owners, are very friendly and make you feel welcome from the start. Visit this B&B - you will not be disappointed.
