Delicious, cheap breakfast fare with super friendly wait staff - the kind that will actually remember you the next time you come in.

Be sure to try the peanut butter and chocolate pie - if you have any room left!

We stopped in for lunch on the recommendation for some great hamburgers. They did not disappoint. The place is certainly not fancy and there isn't a ton of room, but it's worth squeezing in for some food. Service was prompt and friendly and they were clearing tables to make room as fast as they could.

Except for our seven year old daughter, we all got various burgers. They were cooked to order (one an actual medium rare), and patties were juicy. The fries were hand-cut and also well done. Our daughter went with the chicken fingers and they were also tasty. Not fancy, but well done and delicious lunch.

Get there early because the Hungry Bear fills up fast. This one-room, cabin-style eatery has long tables in the center and tables with two to four seats along the walls. There is also a counter where regular customers are invited to hang their own coffee mugs for use when they come in.

They offer all the standard breakfasts, most in half or full orders. I had one egg, one French toast, with two rashers of bacon (which was a half order). My husband ordered a cheese omelet, made with three eggs and two types of cheese, and toast. The coffee was decent. All the food was tasty and not at all greasy.

We appreciated that the plates were not loaded down with a mountain of home fries, although home fries are available to order and always made fresh (according to the sign).

If you like pie, you'll love the Hungry Bear. A sign on the wall listed over a dozen types of pies.

The quantity of food here is amazing and it is so good...especially like the fried bread dough, but you really only need 1/2 of an order. Enjoy eating here.
