“Comfortable, Accousticaly Sound, Casual and Friendly Venue”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 February 2014

The team that runs this place has done just a wonderful job at bringing back a classic venue by turning it into a modern performing art center.

The attitude of the personnel always reflects management's attitude. In this case it is warm, friendly and welcoming.

The bar in the back of the theater is well attended and reasonably stocked with medium to top shelf selections. They don't have everything in the theater, but you can always go to the bar attached to the theater, Garcia's, if you'd like a better selection. As a side note the price of admission to a show provides you a no cover charge access to Garcia's if you'd like to go in afterwards.

Seating on the balcony is comfortable as are the boxes on the side of the theater. The same seating can be found on the floor starting just under the balcony and up the back of the theater. From just under the balcony to the stage is open general admission standing and dancing.

Pricing of admission is based on the show, but very reasonable considering the talent that comes in her, the size of the venue and the resulting intimacy of the performance. Example for $35 the night of the show I went to see the Midnight Ramble Band (look them up people!) and walked right up to the stage and let the experience of the show take me away for the evening.

Net-net: Go

“My new favorite mid-sized venue.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 February 2014

Amazing sound, light and friendly employees in decent town that is close to highways and public trans is awesome... Add to that the history of the venue and great music rolling through here make it a no-brainer. If you're on the fence, definitely get over here and check this place out!!!

“Fantastic music venue”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 January 2014

As Jerry Garcia said in 1978 in Rolling Stone, there are two great music venues - Fillmore and Capital Theatre. Poster is on the wall back stage too. Had the opportunity to see Toots and the Maytals for his 70th birthday and it was fantastic. The combination of being able to stand close to the stage and dance as well as have drinks at a bar or sit in reserved seats makes this place unbeatable. Get there for a wonderful evening!

“Great Venue”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 January 2014

The Capitol Theater is versatile, I have been there both during a seated and general admission show. Both experiences were great. A number of people wondered up front during a few songs to the show that had assigned seats, I see bad reviews based on that. It's a concert, people are going to stand, people are going to sing, it all goes with the territory. During the general admission show there was plenty of room to move around and there are a few levels on the floor as well as balcony so you can see the stage from anywhere. There is a great bar attached to the venue called Garcia's as well as bars inside the venue for convenience. I found the staff/security to be very friendly and helpful. There is parking at the venue, but I suggest municipal parking across the street. (Just have to pay a small fee at a meter if you are there during metered hours or arrive early)

“No Enforcement, Why buy a good seat?”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 November 2013

So, saw B-52's. They were good, but overly loud on couple occasions, trying too hard. Had 4th row seats on the aisle on the left side (DD 1-3). Absolutely no point spending for good seats, as they just let anybody come down and stand right next to you in the aisle for the ENTIRE show. Ushers only come down to tell people not to use a flash. I don't get it, why spend for better seats, or spend effort to pick seats to give you unobstructed view on the aisle, with nobody next to you... And then have somebody RIGHT in your line of vision and somebody else right next to you for 2 hours?
