“Well Maintained Hotel with Great Location”
Reviewed 8 September 2012

We stayed here for a night and used it as a base to go to attractions nearby as well as Rhinebeck. Check In was easy, staff was courteous and helpful and the room was very clean and modern. Room had a view of the falls. Bathroom was well done and the bed was firm enough to sleep well on. We will go back for sure!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a water view.

Our stay here was for our daughter's wedding. It was a beautiful, smaller hotel, with a lovely location. It was nice a peaceful, and excellent location if you want quiet. It is about a 5-8 min. drive from the main road (Rt. 9) in Poughkeepsie, so if you want to be close to the action, you'll have to drive to it. The hotel staff was young, but relatively polite. Breakfast was adequate. You can make your own waffles, have a selection of 2 cold cereals, packet oatmeal, and a selection of breads. There were also microwave egg/cheese/meat croissants in a refrigerator. The only real issue I had during my stay was that even though the housekeeping staff was well aware that there were more than 2 people in my room, they continually only left 2 towels every day that they cleaned, and we constantly had to call to the desk to request more towels.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the water. Very pretty view.

I stay at this hotel last month for family function with other friends, hotel and customer services was way beyond expectation. Hotel crew was very friendly, it feels like home.

Not to mention they have very beautiful breakfast deck near water. My friends and family spend most of our nights on deck during our visit which was amazing experience. In short we are very satisfied and definitely we will stay at this hotel whenever we visit in future

This property was a "God-send" after a 10 hour flight and a week in the city of sight-seeing! Poughkeepsie is a beautiful town, usually quiet from what we could tell and reminded me of another upstate college town I grew up in. This location is close to both Vassar and Marist, we were actually there to check my daughter in for college and we're glad we chose the Inn and Suites at the Falls! This was away from South Road/9 where most of the other hotels were located but well worth the extra 5 minute drive.
We arrived prior to their posted check in time by a couple of hours but the front desk was ready to accommodate us. Some of their rooms were still in "renovation", we think perhaps our reserved room was not ready due to this construction. The front desk clerk asked if we didn't mind upgraded to a king suite-- rather than the 2 queen beds room. We happily accepted. We were a party of 3 that had been cooped up in NYC sized rooms so the king suite was a like a palace for us. The King bed was comfortable, pull out couch was the usual pull out "comfort"- not bad though, and the hotel was able to offer me a roll away if I wanted. We accepted the rollaway so we each had our own beds rather than having to share so everyone was happy! The rollaway was a very soft, we believe it was probably from the old Inn prior to the conversion to Best Western but not sure. I have no doubt that it will be one of the items that will be on the replacement list as they go through their renovations.
The bathroom was spacious, our only complaints would be that there was no towel rack close to the sink area for hand towels and no shelving/counter top space since the sink was a pedastal type. Nice roomy shower stall, if you are the first shower of the day/night it may take the water a few minutes to heat but it was nice and hot if given the time.
The room had a bedroom and living room with space for a kitchenette/dinning area so you could sit and eat dinner with your travel companions or family. A/C worked well in both rooms, each room had it's own control which I thought was great since one of us loved the cold and the other two prefer more moderate temperatures while sleeping. We liked that the room had a microwave and mini refrigerator which allowed us to keep & reheat leftovers we had at restaurants. The personal coffee maker was great.
Housekeeping staff was very efficient, we loved our housekeeper Maria! Personable and professional.
We did not really have a chance to enjoy the breakfast offerings, grabbed a couple of muffins, but it looked like there was a good variety of breakfast items. Nothing fancy: cereals, oatmeal, "do it yourself" waffles, fruits, muffins/breads. Not sure if they had items such as scrambled eggs/hardboiled eggs though. Coffee, tea. Basic items to get you started. Next time we hope to have the opportunity to actually sit and enjoy the outdoor sitting area, it was a beautiful setting next to the river.
Area is quiet, the property itself seems usually quiet though depending on your neighbor in the next room you may hear some garbled conversations. We did not hear any outside noise.
Location was also close to drugstore, laundromat and a Stewart's store (for ice cream- try the PB Pandemonium) as well as a couple restaurants that DO deliver! Great when you've been busy trying to get dorms set up all day!
Also ample parking but do watch out for the wasps, they always seemed to be around during the summer up close and personal.

Room Tip: Riverside room if it's available. king suite is worth a few more dollars if you have more than...

Recently we visited the Hyde Park area and decided to stay at the Best Western Plus, The Inn and Suites at the Falls. Best Western hotels have varied so much in the past that I have tried to avoid them, but decided to take a chance on this one. The hotel rooms are updated, clean and comfortable. The hotel offers a basic breakfast that meets my needs-fresh fruit, cereal, milk , juice and coffee. What more can you ask for really? But, what was a surprise is that the hotel grounds are lovely;there is a deck attached to the breakfast area,so you can eat your breakfast outside or have your morning coffee on deck. Very peaceful and relaxing.

Rachel is a wonderful, generous person who was very supportive of our efforts to assist the Alzheimer's Association in raising awareness of this dreaded disease. She and her staff were absolutely kind and helpful when sponsoring our event. Thank you Rachel!

My wife and I stayed here for a night in early August while visiting historical sites in the Hudson Valley. The room was pretty standard for this type of hotel but the people at the desk were very helpful and friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. It's location is off route 9 a bit but that seems like an advantage to me since the location is both attractive and very quiet and route 9 is only a couple of minutes easy drive away. This place is a winner and we will return.
