We were here the other night for a benefit concert and had a wonderful experience! We loved learning about the history of the building and the performers who have graced its stage (i.e. Buffalo Bill). We loved the intimacy of the space and the sound quality. We are grateful to everyone who have worked to keep this gem in operation. It is worth a visit!

I go here quite frequently. Its a wonderful place to hear live music. Not too big every seat is a good one compared to huge halls in NYC.
I usually go for rock, blues or Jazz shows. However they also have shows for children, opera, etc. Good old time movies occasionally on weekends. You can also become a member, which gets you early tickets before available to public as well discounted prices..
They have a cocktail bar and a coffee bar with cakes and cookies as well.

I had the pleasure of attending a wonderful concert last week at the Bardavon. It has been several years since my last visit there and I was extremely pleased to see how well it is enduring. Seating was comfortable. Bathrooms clean. Nice service bar. Wonderful sound system and lighting. Plenty of parking nearby, but limited number of eateries.

The Bardavon Opera House is the centerpiece of downtown Poughkeepsie. the venue books the Hudson Valley Symphony and other acts and performers during the year. This review is not about the house or its performers. Its a caution for new visitors that the last 5 or 6 rows in the orchestra are raised 4 or 5 inches to produce better stage viewing. Last year I fell exiting my seat, hit my head and now suffer from vestibular neuritis, a form of vertigo. The venue is not responsible; the fault is all mine. But this is an alert for all newcomers to the venue.

Craftsmanship that shows pride in the work, something missing in work today. Movies and concerts are varied, the theater is as much the point of going there as the show. It never gets"old" going there.
