For the ski/snowboard school --A group of 5 city girls visited ski west for a snowboarding lesson and some tubing. We showed up early and it seemed a lot of ppl where already on the slopes. We had we thought a great instructor she was around our age and really very informative.... Until she told us to get on the magic carpet, then 'maybe' she just forgot to tell us how to get on and off with snowboards still attached. She was cool until she kept increasing the skill level when only 2 of 5 ppl where getting the hang of it. We told her there's no need to rush through this and she left us mid way up the beginners mountain (which surprisingly had a really good slope to it) to find out how to get down ourselves. When we all got down... Slowly she went back to teaching us more basic things which would have been useful the first time around.
The lodge has a cafeteria type setting which was packed so full of ppl it was hard to find a place to sit. Apparently you can have birthday parties in there and the day we went was 6 different kids parties and yet although all the kids weren't at the tables you couldn't use them. Not cool.
Tubing was probably the best part until they took away the fast tubes due to adults who didn't know how to stop themselves. There's always someone that ruins it for everyone. The tubing pull that you ride up is weird but useful. You ride the tube to the top then are supposed to jump out at a certain point, however the signs that tell you to disembark are facing the opposite direction most ppl face when being pulled. So you end up being screamed at to roll off lol.
It's a place deff geared more for experienced riders as the lesson area is pretty basic. Your access to the slopes are extremely limited with a lesson package. The only really positive thing is the ski west card you keep in your pocket, opens turnstiles your allowed access to be it tubing and the lifts. I wouldn't return with beginners.
