“Serendipitous Satisfaction . . and more”
Reviewed 23 August 2011

As my daughter and I traveled to NY after passing through 5 other states, we were not sure where to stay to be able to visit Bard College early the next morning. Our GPS (Gypsy) gave us a few suggestions. Serendipity brought us to Pat at the Red Hook Inn.....she had just rec'd a cancellation for that evening. As we pulled our packs up the flowered pathway, over the welcoming front porch and into the welcoming light of the front hallway, Pat welcomed us with overflowing graciousness. We were made very comfortable in the beautifully decorated room #4 with two extremely comfortable beds. We were shown the guest amenities: video tapes, books, water, snacks, a refrigerator, comfy bathrobes, coffee and more. Pat suggested we grab our late dinner at the 24 hour diner just 4 miles up the road. Delicious and fun! ( we went back the next day for lunch after our school tour)
Early morning risers can enjoy a cup of coffee on the front porch oasis on any of the comfy seating options surrounded by tropical and local flora. We were greeted by Pat's husband at around 8:15 am with a full menu of home made breakfast choices.... fresh eggs, strawberry compote, blueberry pancakes..... and more gracious hospitality.
My daughter and I highly recommend this inn.

My husband and I just wanted a quick get away for our wedding anniversary. He went on line and found The Red Hook Inn B&B. From the time we got there to the time we left Pat and Nabil were very accommodating and warm. Our room was cleen and cool (durind the heat wave 7/11). The best sleep I have had in weeks. Tastefully decorated without missing a detail. Nabil's breakfast, to die for - Egg Benedict cook to your specification. Pat is a wealth of information of the area's attraction. Coffee and tea all day and fresh cookies better than chain hotels. We are already planning our next stay.

The Red Hook Inn has an excellent location in Duchess County, NY. Our room was charming, the bed very comfortable, adequate closet space, large bathroom. Pat and Nabil were concerned with every detail of our comfort. They provided personal service, making reservations for us and giving advice about the sights. The breakfast was excellent, especially the mediterranean souffle and sausage. In spite of shoulder surgery the previous day, Nabil was up cooking breakfast the next morning, personally attending to requests. While he had surgery, Peggy provided excellent coverage. Pat, Nabil, and Peggy will take good care of you. We can't wait to go back!

Nabil had had shoulder surgery the day we arrived, and he was up cooking breakfast with one arm bright and early the next morning. Talk about going the extra mile!! He didn't let pain or having only one good arm keep him down. We had eggs from their own chickens, tomatoes from their own garden, jam made by Nabil's aunt and sausage from Nabil's own recipe. Pat was friendly, attentive and very concerned for our comfort, making sure we had a good place arranged for supper. Our bed in room #8 was huge and comfortable and they provided our son with a comfy pull out which he said was great. We all slept like babies and woke up in good moods. Pat and Nabil are very hands-on hosts. A word about the front porch - it's spacious and well-furnished and it felt like we were in a little green private jungle. It was so inviting we spent a lot of time out there. Red Hook is a lovely little town, too. We will be back.

We were led to believe that there was a gourmet breakfast which if you like burnt bacon may qualify. Breakfast consisted of eggs, toast and a fruit cup. Very disappointing rooms, no closets, no dressers in truth there was hardly a place to put your suitcase. If you love nick-nack and clutter this is the place for you. They keep chickens in the back yard below the deck and right next to the hottub- makes for a very odiferous setting. I opened an umbrella in the back yard and there were wasp nests along the supports. Clearly this place needs work.

Thank you so much for taking the time to express your feelings about your stay in August of 2011. Unfortunately, we (the owners) were away at our daughter's wedding during your stay and are not able to validate any of your issues. However, we will certainly do our best to explain what we believe you experienced.

We are able to note that all of our rooms have dressers or drawers in antique furnishings, sometimes in unusual pieces, especially in our new first floor fully accessible rooms (no closet doors but wall space hangers). One first floor room, the former tavern, utilizes the 1920 art deco 15 ft mirrored 'back bar' as your dresser and luggage rack with multiple drawers and cupboards. Perhaps our imagination and foresight in providing this piece for your use escaped you attention.

We are truly sorry that you did not have the luxury of Chef Nabil's gourmet breakfast! Even when we are not here, our menu provides fresh fruit, choice of juices, coffee/tea, fresh eggs from our chickens, home made bread, a choice of home made sausage or bacon (so sorry our assistant burned it for you! but some of our guests enjoy it that way!) We also have hot oatmeal, pancakes, french toast, country potatoes, muffins, yogurt and a great choice of cold cereals and granola. All you need to do is ask.

We all know that wasp nests may arise quickly and perhaps the umbrella was left closed in the corner until one of the owners was able to attend to it. We do know that numerous umbrellas were open on the deck and were free from any pests! We are so happy that your curiosity about the closed umbrella did not result in your being stung!

Finally, we run our home which is also the inn with the furnishings that we enjoy and we hope that you will too. The fact that everyone doesn't like our 'collectables' is really okay. Some rooms contain a few more items than others and if you were unhappy with what was in your room, it is very easy to ask the innkeeper to remove or in some cases, 'add' something!

We hope you will come back, play a bit more golf around the corner and taste the best breakfast in the Hudson Valley under the supervision of Chef Nabil (especially by his hands)!

Finding ourselves with 3 unexpected days In mid July we decided to visit the Rhinebeck, NY area. We checked a few Inns and B&Bs but could not get the schedules to fall into place--
then we found the Red Hook Inn. Our 3 night and 3 breakfast stay could not have been better. The accomodatons were fine, the hostess Pat extremely helpful, advising us what to see and how to get there. Her husband partner, world class Chef Nabel was a pleasure.

The bed was luxurious, the shower hot, the breakfasts wonderful and the other guests interesting and pleasant.

It was the first time in all my years on the road that the Chef came out from his kitchen and described breakfast and asked how we liked our eggs. Chef Nabel not only served his home made potato pancakes and home made sausages, but also joined in the discussions of
the day. A very interesting host and hostess.

We really lucked out---a great 3 days. If Mary and I go back that way we sure will call ahead and get reservations--The Red Hook Inn is a busy place.

We stayed at the Red Hook Country Inn for 2 nights, this was our first visit to the Hudson Valley Area, main reason was to visit the Aerodrome at Old Rhinebeck and see the airshow which takes place every weekend. The area is very beautiful, and the Pat & Nabil at the Red Hook Inn are wonderful hosts.

The breakfasts were excellent, all fresh and homemade, eggs straight from the chickens which were kept outside. The accommodation is very homely and cosy, you felt like you were part of the family with lots of laughter and happy people.

Pat and Nabil are very welcoming and helpful, and supply you with good advice and lots of information about where to visit etc.

Would certainly recommend and love to visit again and spend more time exploring this wonderful part of the USA
