We were meeting some good friends in Rhinebeck for Sunday brunch. Having already enjoyed a couple of other restaurants in town (Terrapin, Market Street) in the past, we wanted to try someplace new, and chose The Amsterdam. We were very pleased with our experience. The food was excellent across the board -- from the buttermilk biscuits to the smoked salmon to the fried chicken sandwich. The goat cheese omelet and the potato gnocchi were exceptional. Warm chocolate chip cookie topped with creamy vanilla ice cream was a perfect dessert. We also enjoyed a delicious cider -- dry, crisp, and refreshing. The staff was very friendly and the service was very good. The atmosphere is casual and laid-back -- simple decor with a cool vibe. Reasonable prices. Outdoor seating is available. We would return without hesitation.
