There are many accidents waiting to happen . Someone from managemnt should spend a night in each room to see what . The BED-- may be interesting to use old wood to make a frame for the bed but the corners come to a point-injured my husband's shin when he exited bathroom right in front of bed at night - corners should be padded/rounded. RUG- edge curled and not taped down on slippery wood floor. SHOWER-shower head on ceiling may look "sexy" but have to be a contortionist to do legs/private parts. Glass shelf useless since soap falls to floor.TV- defies logic to turn off. Needed housekeept o instruct. HEAT/THERMOMETER- never got temp under 80. Programmable overkill. Housekeeper trIed as well- no success. ACCESSABILITY- 3 flights down to breakfast a challenge.FOOD SERVICE No food/bar service since considered early October winter. - you knew our arrival dates- should have let us know- Once was enough

I’m so sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy your recent stay with us, I do try to respond to everyone’s comments, and of course we try to learn from them and improve where we can. I actually do regularly stay in the rooms just to try them out and sometimes we do have to make choices between a certain aesthetic we’re looking for and functionality. A prime example is storage space, we deliberately chose to keep the rooms simple and uncluttered by the usual hotel dressers, chests and big TV cabinets, which has left some rooms a little short on storage space if you have lots of stuff indeed, I don’t have the answer yet to that one, it’s an ongoing debate, many guests love the uncluttered almost zen—like feel due to the lack of furniture all over the place! To answer a couple of your points though, I will take a look at the beds, they are indeed kind of special but we don’t want any health hazards and I’m sorry if your husband banged his shin, thank you for the point. I have no answer to our rain shower drenching heads built in to the ceiling, we spent months getting them right, I guess next time around we’ll try and do three dimensional ones! The heating can be tricky at this time of year as the heating systems do need to be on as the nights can get cold, but recently it’s been inordinately warm during the day with 70-80 degrees being normal, it’s generally best to just switch the AC on to solve this temporary issue. We do close for full dining seasonally as Rhinecliff is very quiet post Labor Day, we have re-opened the bar though to offer our house guests soothing libations and snacks to fill any gaps.
But anyway, at the end of the day I still remain sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay, please do contact me for a full refund which I hope may at least mitigate your unhappy feelings which I would certainly love to cure!
Kindest regards
James

We were ready to relax after braving the Poughkeepsie/Highland Walkway and the Rhinecliff did not disappoint. Everything from the piano music in the room to the unbelievable views from our balcony was perfect. Your place combines the best of the old and the new. Please save room 202 for our next trip!

Thank you for your kind words, I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed our little spot, we shall be sure to keep 202 on standby (I know, it's that extra-large bathroom with the walk-in shower that you liked.....)...thank you!

Since family was very familiar with Rhinecliff, we decided to have a Birthday celebration at "The Rhinecliff". Lovely location, charming Inn.
We had Sunday Brunch in June.
Restaurant service was terribly slow. Some guests at tabke were finishing their mealm while others had not yet been served! Food---not good, portion size-very small! Can't say the wait was worth it.

This fully restored inn is a perfect place if you're looking for intimate with a beautiful view of the Hudson River! The rooms are large with very comfortable beds and a jacuzzi tub! You can enjoy the view of the Hudson on your own personal balcony. The train tracks are right outside the Inn and the train runs every half hour but it is not annoying, rather kind of fun to watch and hear! Although it did blow it's whistle at 5:55am I thought it quite cute and went right back to sleep! The food was very good and it's a 5 minute drive to the bigger town for shopping and eating!

Don't miss this gem! We really enjoyed our stay. The staff was friendly and courteous. The hotel is perfectly located right on the Hudson. Breakfast was delicious! The live music in the bar the night before was fantastic. Can't miss!

It was my husband's birthday, and we thought an overnight at the Rhinecliff would be a great present. Everything was so wonderful! The rooms are each equipped with a jacuzzi style tub, the view is amazing, and the food at the Rhinecliff is like a little taste of heaven.

Then, as a follow up we invited ten friends for dinner on Saturday evening, and even with a party of twelve our server, Chris, was spot on, cheerful and ever so attentive. The food was delicious, and served with style.

We felt like family, and realized, no... better than family!

Room Tip: All the rooms are good, the only downside is that the hotel is on a rail spar, so while you have the...

We had been considering staying at the Rhinecliff for some time, being frequent visitors to nearby Rhinebeck. The big attraction for us was a room with a balcony overlooking the Hudson. What a beautiful spot to sit and watch the sunset and passing ships while enjoying a glass of wine, and some appetizers. Only steps away was our wonderful room, complete with king size bed, ceiling fan, jacuzzi tub and choice of bedside stereo or big screen tv. A bonus was the excellent made to order breakfast served in the main dining room.

We were well aware that the trains were located right across from our hotel, and appreciated all the advisories warning us of this fact. For us, it was not a problem, and considering the history of the hotel, we thought it added to the whole experience. Once the doors were closed, and with air on, the occasional train passing through did not take away from our enjoyment of this well restored property. We would not hesitate to return. We may even take the train, and walk to our room from the nearby station, which is a piece of history in its own right.

Room Tip: Our room was on the 3rd floor, and had really high ceilings, with
