This is hard to write because last year I raved about the Staybridge. This year most of the things I liked last year -- great beds, better than average breakfast buffet, friendly staff were all in place. But a couple of small glitches could be fixed easily to make the customer experience better. Because housekeeping left early on Christmas Eve many guests put used towels in laundry bags outside their rooms. They should have been collected by someone overnight but weren't -- looked bad. It snowed quite a bit on the 23rd and 24th but the sidewalks were not cleared until later in the day. I grew up in Rochester and shoveling snow is automatic. Usually. Not Christmas Eve.

Last year when we checked in we got a cute little welcome bag. This year I could see the bags on the back counter but we didn't get one. If you're not giving them out, don't have them where arriving guests can see them.

Would I stay there again. Yes because it is clean, comfortable and the people are nice. But it could do better.

Room Tip: Unless you really want a living room and bed room the studio is almost as large as the one bedroom s...

My son was visiting the University of Rochester so this was the first time I stayed at this hotel. I was very pleased with the overall experience. I received a welcome bag upon arrival and was upgraded to a two bedroom suite with a river view. The hotel and suite were very clean and the bed was sooo comfortable - I had a fantastic night's sleep. The buffet breakfast was okay- not good, not great, just okay. The front desk staff was very nice. Would definitely stay again.

We chose this hotel because they allow pets for a VERY reasonable $15 cleaning fee. The suite feature was helpful also -- it was great to have plates, silverware, etc for our take-out food. The room was spacious with a couch and the linens were 4 1/2 star quality. The breakfast was better than your average hotel breakfast buffet and the coffee was GREAT (and I am a coffee snob). The desk staff was very helpful and printed out directions to a local store we'd inquired about, without us even asking. Cozy, welcoming place -- I wished I was staying for a few days more to check out their week night "happy hour" event. Definitely recommended.

Thank you for your recent review of our property. We are delighted that your experience with Staybridge Suites was a positive and you and your family enjoyed our breakfast buffet. The hotel does have a a few rooms with handheld showers as does the shower room in the pool area to make it easier for bathing small children. We have address the salinity of the pool water with our maintenence engineer and appreciate you feed back so we can make your future stay even better. We look forward to having you as our guest in the future.

My parents visit Rochester almost once a year and always stay at Staybridge and it has been consistently comfortable, clean and a very good place to have an extended stay. The staff are friendly, helpful and always very welcoming. The rooms are spacious and always make us as if we are coming home. This place, additionally, seems ideal to bring pets and the river allows for scenic walks with them. The neighborhood around the hotel is a little poor; mostly residential and with few restaurants within walking distance, though this is being remedied with the improvement of Brooks Landing the addition of College Town. The breakfast is complimentary: bare, unhealthy but free.

All in all, I do enjoy staying at Staybridge and would recommend it to anyone.

I spent two nights here during a visit to the University, selected for its convenient location. But I was impressed that the management and staff seem to be doing all the little things unusually well. There is a fine buffet breakfast, with some menu changes from day to day. If you want a soft drink with it instead of coffee, they provide it. If you arrive late at night after the restaurants have closed, there are snacks available in a little room next to the front desk. Complementary newspapers.

The staff cares enough to provide detailed information about the area, both restaurants and attractions, arranged by walking or driving distance.

Room Tip: My large room had its own kitchen in addition to the usual iron and ironing board, but the price was...

We were in Rochester for a senior recital of a family friend at Eastman and I am so glad we choose the Staybridge Suites as our home away from home. We had a lovely view of the river from our suite, we were able to take our dog on walks along the river, the breakfast buffet was awesome, it was quiet and peaceful in our room, the suite was phenomenal, spacious and well equipped. The staff was by far the most accomadating of any hotel I've stayed at. The hotel is very close in proximity to most everything in Rochester. The price is very reasonable for all the amenities you get here. Our first time to Rochester and I would love to return just to experience the warmth and hospitality I received here by EVERYONE! Thank you to all the staff @ Staybridge Suites in Rochester!!!!

After three stays in the last year at the Staybridge Suites in Rochester, consistent would be the word that comes to mind! During all three visits, the hotel staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. The hotel is kept very clean in all areas, even the stairwells! The suites ( I have stayed in three different rooms, riverview and non riverview) were a nice size with full kitchnetts (I have used the refrigerator for various reasons all three times) and the beds are very comfortable. One hiccup at this hotel would be the slow elevator. If you are on a upper floor (3 or 4), I would use the stairs or ask for a lower floor room.
It is a great place to stay while visiting UR (there is a walking bridge that crosses over the river to the Universtiy....a long walk on a cooler day but still refreshing if you like a brisk walk!) or even the sites around Rochester. The location has close freeway access (about 2 miles) and is near downtown Rochester but away from the busy city noises and congestion. There are many good restaurants and museums located about 10 to 15 minute drive from the hotel. Not to worry about breakfast because they offer a nice variety of breakfast food and even some appetizers on a few of the weekday nights. The atmosphere is casual and homey! You often see parents of students, families and even professionals relaxing in the sitting room near the fireplace or out on the deck enjoying the Genesee River view that overlooks the University of Rochester. (My favorite view of the University!) There is an outdoor firepit, too. The pit was being used on the Saturday night we were there. It was a cooler fall night and provided another place to socialize if you were in the mood!
The parking area is large and free. There is easy access in and out. However, there is construction going on right next to the hotel that is fenced off at this time and aestetically it does look a little messy. (The University is building an 11 story upper graduate complex). We were there on a weekend and there was NO noise or interference noted.
We will surely be back to enjoy more stays at the Staybridge while visiting our son at UR.

Room Tip: Elevator is slow, take the stairs or ask for a room on the lower two floors.
