Read reviews of this hotel and decided to give it a try. I am not sorry that I did. The room was excellent--nice and clean and nice comfortable bed with all the amenities that come with a suite hotel. Had a slight problem on checking in since I was using points for one of the two nights--they had us in two different rooms but this was corrected very quickly and without any hassle. Great service. Did not use the pool but it looked nice and the fitness room looked well equipped. Breakfast was very good---better than donuts and coffee. The first morning all the breakfast entries had meat with them and since I am a vegetarian I asked if it was possible to get some eggs without the ham---the girl did this up for me quite promptly and that was appreciated. There were sport teams staying at the hotel and I did not hear any noise at all. I can highly recommend this hotel and definitely would stay there again when I am in Rochester. As a side note there are a lot of restaurants in the area if you have a car and 4 within a short walk.

Overall, we couldn't ask for a nicer stay. We normally stay at Residence Inns but this will be our new go to hotel. Breakfast was excellent! It held us until dinner! The only down side was we were in room 107 and could hear people working out in the fitness center.

Extremely clean room and lobby! The room, bedding, furniture, drapes all smelled fresh! Our bed was very comfortable with plenty of extra pillows. There were also plenty of towels with no stains or noticeable wear. Our room was quiet and all the mechanicals worked well. Plenty or restaurants in the area. We'll be back next time we are in this area!

My wife and I had previously stayed here at the end of January for a little getaway. We returned May 23-26 for a long weekend to visit the zoo, the science center and rib fest. While still a solid hotel, it has slipped a little since last time. Not enough for me to give it three stars, but a solid 3.5 stars. This review is more of a comparison with our prior stay.

Check-in was very fast and friendly. We were given a room on the first floor, which in hindsight, I should have asked to be changed, but we were close to the entrance and breakfast. Room was pretty similar with what we had before, but you could tell it was more worn. I lot of scrapes of the furniture that should be filled in, one of the dining chairs had some of the ribbing coming off and the glass closet door was cracked on the bottom. Room seemed like it could use another side table on the other side of the sofa, we ended up putting the ottoman over there to put our drink on. I can't recall it there was on in our other room or not.

Housekeeping was not as good as last time either. The thoroughness of the cleaning was not up to par.The wooden tray on top of the ottoman was not cleaned everyday and you could see the dust on it. Same with the dressers in the living room and bedroom. One of my wife's hairs stuck to the side of the shower from the first day, was still there when we left. And you could see some mildew around the soap/shampoo holders. Again, stuff that we did not have issue with the last time. I will say though, it was nice that they ran the dishwasher for us when they came.

We arrived on Thursday, so there was an evening meal. It was pizza night, which consisted of three types of pizzas and a salad bar. Would have liked to see some chicken wings or fingers offered as well, since two of the three types of pizzas were vegetarian options. Pizzas weren't really that warm and seemed like they were all delivered at once and not kept warm. The cookies they had though were very good.

Breakfasts were not as good as before either. Friday morning we get to breakfast about 8:30 and the scrambled eggs are all hard and green, like they were sitting there all morning. There were no pastries like last time (little donuts/danish), but they did put out a tray when they were closing down breakfast (why not put it out for breakfast?). There was only one waffle maker out and it constantly stuck even with spray, which another guest had to ask for (this was already out last time). In January there were two waffle makers out with regular and strawberry flavored mix, this time only regular and the line was 3-4 to make a waffle. We had polish sausage two of the days which to us tasted like Hillshire Farms sausage cut up. There was no breakfast sausage like last time we had breakfast patties. And why can they not have bacon. Neither of out trips offered bacon on any of the days. Food needed more seasoning, from hash browns to eggs, at least last time they had cheese in the eggs one day and ham another. Fruit selection was meager, one day no bananas, next no apples. It was still an adequate breakfast, but just not like it was before. And why the change to styrofoam plates and plastic cutlery, before we had nice plates and metal cutlery. Definitely not environmentally conscious.

Saturday night there was a birthday party in the meeting room. There were kids running and screaming up and down the hall back to their rooms later at night. Seeing as were were only a few rooms down from that area it was a little bothersome. I think that the front desk should have put all those rooms together as close to the meeting area as possible and us farther away so as not to inconvenience us or other guests. They had to have known that they were going to be there before we checked in.

Staff were just as nice as our previous visit, saying good morning and hello in the hallways which is a great start to our day. With that, it seems as if Hilton or the hotel itself is trying to cut some costs, or things aren't being managed as well for there to be such a drop in a few months.

Finally, there were several things that I had suggested the hotel could do to make itself better in my previous review. Most were small and not expensive. In the response from the hotel to my review, they thanked me for my suggestions and feedback and would look into it. None of those things were implemented. So, either they were not important or the hotel is not following up on what they say. The hotel is still a great, close to the city, shopping and eating, but its decline in several areas has me worried about its future. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not near the pool or meeting room, preferable 2nd floor or higher.

Dear Luv2travel2newplaces,

Thank you for your recent review, feedback and follow-up to your previous review. We have shared your feedback with the entire staff. We take all comments very seriously and the housekeeping oversights that you mentioned have been addressed.

We want you to know that after your first review we forwarded your suggestions regarding the coat hooks and boot trays to Hilton for consideration since we thought it was a great idea. Unfortunately our hotels have to be complient to the standards outlined by Homewood Suites for all their hotels and since neither of these items are standard for all Homewood Suite properties, we were told that it is not something that we can add each guest suite at our property.

We have taken Pizza night off of our Evening Reception menu. We have also arranged our breakfast menu so that we do not serve the same breakfast meat item twice in the same week. Again we do have to adhere to Homewood Suites standards and the smoked breakfast sausage is one of the most popular breakfast meats we serve according to guest surveys.

Thank you again for your feedback and we hope you will stay with us again in the future,

Sincerely,
Vina Platania
Director of Sales

Everything was clean and orderly. The front desk was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was adequate but standard. I didn't get to take advantage of the manager's reception, but it probably would make a good deal better.

The rooms are clean and spacious; the kitchen is serviceable; the breakfast good and the price reasonable. One drawback is that the sole bathroom is only accessible from the bedroom, so if you put people up in the sofa/sleeper room, they will be trouncing through your room to go to the bathroom.
