“Best Public Market for real shopping”
Reviewed 16 April 2014

Winter, spring, summer and fall we go to the Rochester Public Market every Saturday possible to do our weekly shopping. From veggies, fruit, meat, cheese, honey, spices and many other things, you can get more than your basics at the market. Summertime is busy and folks who really want to shop arrive early! The "tourists" (not regulars at the market) come later and it gets very crowded. With regular visits you can get to know the farmers who provide your food and the conditions in which it is grown. Have a breakfast sandwich and a coffee when you're finished. Musicians add to the ambiance but give them a buck to help them out. I've been shopping at the market since longer than I'd like to admit and it is the highlight of my week! Love it.

“Better than Seattle, London, or even small town VA.”
Reviewed 5 March 2014

It took moving away from Rochester to understand what a joy it is. Markets in other towns and cities I've been to are very touristy, or only appeal to foodies with a high enough paycheck to warrant the very finest and fanciest. While you can find organic and exotic fare here, what you will mostly find is fantastic produce, phenomenal prices and lots of local farmers all year round.

On Saturdays you'll find much more than just the plants and produce, but even in the winter on a Tuesday, the market is not dead, you can buy local apples fresh out of the crisp storage, or just grocery store produce (Florida oranges, pineapple, etc) at a fraction of the price.

Open in the mornings, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday til about 1pm.

“Favorite Saturday Morning Activity!”
Reviewed 4 March 2014

When the weather is nice, the Public Market is a must-go! This is where I do my fruit and veggie shopping, as it is cheaper than the grocery store. There any multiple local coffee shops as well as an array of breakfast/food options. This place has pretty much everything. They have spices, cheeses, live chickens, fish, meat, baked goods as well as clothing, jewelry and household items. It's usually super busy so be prepared for crowds, but if you ask me its worth it!

“Good plan to spend about an hour”
Reviewed 1 January 2014

There are about hundred stores in the market - some are selling different types of food, such as: fruits, veggies, seafood and meat while other stores are selling everyday household items. The price is not especially cheap, but with the vast number of stores, it is a good place to spend 1 hour or 2!

“Not just for foodies”
Reviewed 26 December 2013 via mobile

Great farmer's market with a good variety of veggies, fruit, poinsettias, wreaths, and seasonal gifts. Throw in some artist galleries, bakeries, and a coffee house or two and you have the makings of a fun morning or afternoon!
