fairly safe open fields and walks; saw many birds; nice trees in the spring especially, when in bloom...

“By the ever-changing Lake Ontario”
Reviewed 23 May 2014

Durand Eastman Park is a large and well-loved arboretum/golf course/lakefront beach/playground and picnic area in the middle of Irondequoit, NY. There's a new lake side walkway with lovely views of the ever changing lake, a great place to escape the heat of the nearby city of Rochester. Watch the swans and ducks in the ponds or follow the migrating birds through the seasons. In April drive up Zoo Road (no zoo any more) and watch for the magnolia tree display, then park and walk down to see the daffodils amidst the blossom trees. There are also more challenging walks down around the ponds and gullies that comprise much of the park's terrain.

“A Good Old Walk in the Park”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

If you have never taken a walk in Durand Eastman Park, you're missing out on one of Rochester's gems. Not only are there trails for you, your family, and your pets to enjoy, but there are also playgrounds and pavilions for use.

“One of the area's best”
Reviewed 9 March 2014

I've been going here since I was a youngster, and parks don't get much better than this. A beach, hiking trails, a golf course and places to picnic make for a top notch park. Budget cuts have taken their toll, but the staff does their best!
