This restaurant was recommended to me this afternoon by a co-worker, as I was stuck downtown at dinnertime. I must admit that I had never heard of the place. It is located inside a converted house along the restaurant strip of Park Avenue.
The inside of the restaurant really isn't done up too much; it is, after all, inside an old house. But what the atmosphere does not provide, the food does...the food is DEFINITELY a '5.' Instead of a full dinner, I pieced together three appetizers; a beet an feta salad over spinach leaves, hummus with pita triangles, and a shrimp dish with pita, red peppers and olives in an olive oil dressing. Folks, I have to tell you, each of these dishes was REALLY, REALLY SPECIAL! I hadn't been really hungry, but I had a hard time stopping myself from eating almost everything. You could tell that the ingredients were fresh, and they were combined and prepared by a real chef who knew how to blend good whole foods with "the right stuff." The portions were large enough for a big eater (me), and I loved every bite.
The service was also spot on, with my friendly waitress explaining the menu items, offering suggestions, and providing prompt courteous service.
The only "down" parts to this restaurant is the lack of local parking (which affects all the local restaurants), and the somewhat ordinary atmosphere inside. But I'll gladly trade all that for the wonderful food, and the inexpensive price. I will definitely return!
