“Great experience.”
Reviewed 2 May 2014

First of, I want to thank Jasmine for being such a great server. Also a huge thanks to Janine W for a great welcome whilst entering. The atmosphere is fantastic and very cozy. The food was fantastic. We ordered a couple oysters, the foie gras appetizer, homemade goat cheese and spinach ravioli, scallop risotto, and a chocolate raspberry mousse. Everything was delicious and it was my first time trying foie gras.
I would return and recommend this restaurant to future guest at my hotel.

- Vince

“Beautiful place”
Reviewed 30 April 2014

This restaurant and bar is beautiful. I would say the food is really not Italian although their trying to be. With that said it is good! Try the crab salad and their brodo. Love the bar.
Nice selections of wines and service was good.

“Great addition to Rochester restaurant scene”
Reviewed 24 April 2014

Went on Friday night as a couple, had reservations for 7 PM and were promptly seated. Place was 2/3 full. Bar area looked neat. Table spacing is important to us and Avvino was so-so - a weird layout, perhaps due to geometry of room and kitchen entrance area, but seems like there is a huge gap in middle of main dining space. Not a big deal and to be sure would definitely prefer a gap then too many tables crammed together! Service was prompt and professional. Best part - the FOOD! It was fantastic. My wife had Rack of Lamb and I Sea Bass; both entrees were outstanding. It is clear the chef has been well trained as the accompaniments and sauces are well above the typical fare offered in Rochester. We left overly impressed and hoping this place thrives in Rochester.

“Wow, top notch offering in food and service”
Reviewed 26 March 2014

Avvino is new and still growing its food, wine and ambiance, but they really are one of the best date night places to go in Rochester/Pittsford area. It is also not inappropriate for a proper business oriented dinner either. I would say formal but still cozy enough not to be pretentious.
The salads were artfully displayed and perfectly fresh and balanced. Loved the roasted pumpkin seeds on the brussel sprout salad and the way they prepared the beet and goat cheese on the side of it. The rainbow trout and veal osso bucco were wonderfully accompanied by several delicate flavors in the sauce and generous sides to each. These were also creatively plated. My one nit might be though that the wine list is still a little light. This is to be expected as they are so new (6 months), and I chatted with the server about that and made a few suggestions.
Looking forward to a return visit soon.

“Old school service, very nice ambiance...”
Reviewed 21 March 2014

My friends and I stopped in this past week on a Wednesday after work for drinks and a light supper. The service was terrific from the get go and the surroundings were comfortable and chic. The menu is just the right size and everything looked very appetizing. The cocktail and wine list are creative and varied. It was very nice to be able to share an entree and several appetizers and sides (server accommodating). I did think the caliber of food was not quite outstanding but was flavorful and filling (Anancini was mediocre, scallops were small but tender, Broccolini with pesto was tasty but overdressed). The bread served with our dishes was so delicious, presented in a cast iron bread pan, hot out of the oven!!! Reminded me of Parker House rolls, very delicious and you can't resist. Overall, nice place to take date, family or friends for intimate dinner.
