I'm too old to do it all. Walked the Pier at Ontario Beach Park, sailed the Mary Jemison on the Erie Canal, saw the lower river below Corn Hill and High Falls. Totally awesome! What a neat place is Rochester!

We started at RIT and took the trail north to Corn Hill. Very nice walking trail. I have lived in Rochester for 13 years and never been. Would recommend to others.

You can start on this trail at Lake Ontario. It follows the Genesee River through an impressive gorge, a boardwalk over the river at Turning Point Park, past three waterfalls, one in downtown Rochester, and south past the University of Rochester. Much of the way you'd never know you were in a big city. Be aware there are a couple points where there is not a continuous trail, but check it out ahead of time and either do it in pieces, or follow the well-marked sections on city streets.

You can even take a Segway tour. Trail runs up and down along the West side of the Genesee Gorge for miles. Beautiful river views and big old houses. We saw a family of swans last time. Two hundred years ago it was an area of pirates and malaria, but now it is a hidden garden that can make you feel far away from city life.

Living near the lake we frequent the portion of the trail north of Driving Park and our favorite spot is the bridge at turning point park. It's amazing to be out on the riverbend among the wildlife. If we take the bikes we sometimes jot down to the beach for an ice cream. The trail is paved and well-maintained. There are some steep climbs back up to Lake Avenue, but otherwise it's a pretty easily walkable/ridable trail.
