We recently stayed here for 3 days during our daughters National American Miss Pageant. It was super crowded but that comes with pageants. We originally booked a smaller room but after seeing how small we asked to upgrade to a suite. They were great about it and even honored the smaller rooms price and we stayed an extra day. The pageant was wonderful. Only downfall was no cheap food offered onsite and elevators take forever. 2 elevators for 25 floors is too much lol. We would stay again though. Also pool was kind of small for the size of hotel but again it was clean and nice and so was our suite :)

The hotel is right downtown and not much around - especially if you are looking to restaurants. We found one and hotel staff suggested their own restaurant which really was the only place nearby. The hotel rooms are well equipped, and the bar is very nice. The hotel seems a little under staffed. Everyone was very nice, but lines at checkin were long. Valet and self parking. The valet who helped us was wonderful and even carried our bags up the stairs to the lobby. The only way into the hotel involves a flight of stairs and only a small open air lift for the disabled. The pool has a nice gym, indoor pool and jacuzzi. It is supposed to be child free between 9 pm to 11 pm, but no one monitors and it was noisy with kids - including unsupervised kids in the jacuzzi. I think I would stay elsewhere unless you had business they had to mean you needed to stay in the area.

The Hyatt Regency is a great choice for those that want to be in downtown Rochester. The room are big, bright and fairly modern, the staff is pleasant, and the amenities are terrific.Best of all, the room area very clean and quiet. And the bathrooms are modern and very clean. Also, the housekeeping was prompt and thorough (something you can't often say!)

Now there are a few downsides including an arduous parking process (you have to have the ticket stamped at the front desk each day), some lacking public areas (worn, greasy elevators), and a limited menu in the restaurant.

As those who know Rochester understand, it's fallen on hard times. So if you do stay here, beware that you will see a lot of homeless and indigent in the area. I don't know anything about the security in the hotel, but I never saw anything dangerous/scary in the hotel itself. I felt very safe.

Room Tip: Sign up for the Hyatt loyalty card to get free wifi. No real vending machines, per se, and limited s...

We live in Syracuse and travel to Rochester once in a while for a weekend get away. We arrived at the hotel just as a really bad rain storm had started. Even though the front desk appeared busy the young lady who greeted us was extremely friendly and polite. She asked the reason for our trip and let us know that the hotel had umbrellas available if we needed them. We asked for suggestions for places to eat dinner and she gave us two very good recommendations with directions.

The room was modern and clean with a very comfortable bed. This particular room was on the twenty second floor and we had a really great view of the city and the river. We stopped for a drink at the hotel bar while we waited for the rain to stop. The bartender was friendly and they had some really great locally brewed beers on tap.

The hotel is located on Main Street in Rochester and it was an easy walk down Main Street to East Ave and some of our favorite places to eat. The city of Rochester is going through some renovations that to me makes this hotel a more desirable place to stay.

I know that this hotel is a little more expensive than some of the surrounding places, but to me it is well worth it. It was a fantastic stay and I am looking forward to coming back soon.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the river.

My husband and I booked Hyatt Regency Rochester as a wedding block site for our out-of-town guests and also booked a brunch and suite for us. The rate was quite competitve with comparable hotels in the area, and the Hyatt did not require us to reserve a certain number of rooms and then pay for any remaining rooms that were not booked by our guests (beware of this policy at other Rochester hotels!). We had great communication with the booking contact at the Hyatt. Also, they offered a complimentary hotel shuttle to the airport for our guests. The rooms themselves were well-appointed and comfortable and our suite was enormous. Our New York City and Boston guests were quite pleased with the accommodations; that is, the Hyatt was comparable to hotels in bigger cities. Our brunch the following morning was delicious and generous in the offerings. Our guests had a great venue and location and comfortable, well-decorated rooms. We'd book Hyatt Regency Rochester again in a heartbeat!

I don't usually write reviews of middle of the road hotels, but the service at the Hyatt in Rochester is so good it's almost worth a stop to experience. We usually stay in boutique hotels and five-stars, where you pay for and therefor expect great service...chain hotels, not so much. The Hyatt itself is everything you would expect in a four-star chain, clean, comfortable, reasonably quiet. However, the service here is so good-- everyone form the guy who picks you up at the airport to the doorman who sees you off at the end of your stay-- that I would recommend other hotel managers to visit to find out how it is done. Truly exceptional.

Husband brought me here for a special weekend getaway and we were met with impeccable service and a wonderful staff. My husband has diamond status with Hyatt hotels and used a diamond suite upgrade when he booked the room. Unfortunately at check-in, there were no suites available as there were a number of events at the hotel. Xavier who assisted us at check-in went above and beyond and made an excellent accommodation for us and we were very pleased. The bar staff was also friendly and attentive. Valerie went so far as to take our dinner order for us for room service so we would not have to go back to the room to place our order before heading to the pool. We ordered room service for breakfast and Anthony (I hope I have his name correct!) was very kind, professional and made sure that we were satisfied with our order. The hotel was very comfortable, the staff pleasant, the food was excellent and the weekend was very special! We were just in Rochester for the night and the weather was dreary, typically we like to get out and explore the area but were completely satisfied to stay in the hotel. We hope to visit again!
