We just stayed here for 2 nights in Oct. 2005. The hotel is in a quiet office building type setting, about a 10 minute drive from downtown Rochester. There are 3 restaurants within a 5-minute walk: a TGIF, and a newly-opened "Bazil" Italian place. There is a strip mall across the street with several stores.
The hotel itself is well maintained and clean, both inside and out. The lobby was renovated 6 months ago and is lovely. There is a small "store" attached with a very limited selection of goods (chips and pop). If you need any drugstore product you'll have to cross the street to the mall. The hotel bar closed at 10:00 one night and wasn't open at all the next.
We travel 4-5 times a year and are low maintence guests. My main demand is the room, and I look for a newly-opened or just renovated hotel, and have found that anything done in the last 2 years or so is still "new". I was told the rooms were done 2 1/2 yrs. ago, but it's probably over 3. The carpets, drapes, wallpaper, lamps looked new. The furniture looked old. The sheets were thin and worn, but still clean. (there is an t.v. ad campaign now about the linens - so I assume these will be upgraded soon). The bed was soft and comfortable. The bathroom was large, with the sink separate from the toilet and tub. The floor and tub surround looked newly done. There were hairs on the bathroom floor that were not mine (yech - but I see this all the time both in expensive and budget hotels). The sink counter and taps were old but still in good shape. Towels were clean and fluffy.
There is a buffet breakfast for $9 - eggs, sausage, bacon, pastries - very nicely presented and a bargain price.
Staff was attentive and pleasant. Overall, pretty good, but the rooms still looked a bit tired and I would probably stay somewhere else next time.
