My husband and I stayed here for a visit to Hyde Park. Well worth the trip over the river. Believe all the glowing reviews - gem, friendly but not overbearing staff, gorgeous renovation - not much more to add. The countryside is beautiful - cant wait to think of an excuse to come back.

Room Tip: Some rooms are roomier than others, some with creek view. Ask what is available.

I would have to say Perfect.. I am an interior designer and was very impressed. The recent renovation is perfect & well thought out.. It has the character of a great old inn.. but modern and impeccable.. down to their soft sheets made just for them.. plus a quaint cozy bar with great beer on tap and good wine.. highly recommend..

Room Tip: all rooms are just perfect.. really.. i toured them all

My husband and I just got back from our 4 day trip and absolutely loved the 1850 House! The staff is so welcoming, inviting, and helpful. The entire place was impeccably clean and well-maintained. It has all the charm of an old inn but has been really beautifully and thoughtfully updated. You can tell the staff really cares about what they do. The breakfast every morning was great, and the bar and sitting rooms are roomy. We went to the bar each night for a little while and had a great time hanging out with Mike, the owner. We will definitely be back in the future!

I had a wonderful 2 week stay in this delightful B & B. The rooms are beautifully furnished and the sitting rooms and dining areas are inviting and comfortable. The aroma of Chef Amy busily preparing a tremendous breakfast greeted me each morning. There are two areas to take your breakfast in; one welcomes the morning sun, the other gives a view of the back garden over looking the river. The 1850s House is within walking distance of 4 restaurants and a movie theater. The owners were so helpful with driving directions and gave suggestions for local festivities. I highly recommend this fabulous B&B.

Room Tip: My corner room (#8) was wonderfully sunny.

I came across this place while looking for a one-night stay in the Hudson Valley. Most all places require a 2-night stay for a weekend and I was getting desperate. While 1850 also has the 2-night stay policy, a room became available last minute. I was wary when the only room available was on the first floor, close to the tavern, but as I said, I was desperate. The inn is centrally located in Rosendale, within walking distance of the rest of the village.

The innkeeper, Amy was very friendly. She showed us the room and it was beautiful. Quite large, with a king bed, and situated in such a way that ensured a quiet night. Very clean, with little extras that you usually don't see in such a small establishment (toiletries, toothbrush, floss, water). High-quality towels and sheets. We never heard a noise from the upstairs guests.

The tavern was about 10 feet away, but it closes at 10pm, so it wasn't a problem. Breakfast is also served in this area, which included a hot egg casserole dish.

The property was recently renovated, and it was done right. We'll definitely be staying here again.

Daughter's wedding in spectacular Mohonk Preserve required a nearby hotel. We spent 5 nights in the 1850; family and friends also booked rooms for 2 nights. Rooms are all newly redecorated in a way that perfectly balances the charm of the classic architecture with updated amenities: great beds, completely renovated baths, efficient air conditioning...
Staff was unerringly efficient and friendly. Breakfasts put other places to shame. And the tavern is exactly what a tavern should be, complete with friendly and knowledgeable bartender.
All in all, one of the nicest country inns we've encountered anywhere.
