Once you enter the grounds you feel you are someplace special. The outdoor sculptures are wonderful in their settings. The museum itself is a beautiful building, and the galleries are the right size. There is usually a wonderful movie to enhance the main exhibition. Only wish they would reopen the cafe.

We visited the Roslyn Museum recently and strolled around the spacious grounds of the sculpture garden before entering the museum itself. Later we visited the Richard Avedon retrospective of photography.
If the weather is nice, the gardens and grounds are beautiful, perfect for a picnic! The grounds were originally part of the William Cullen Bryand estate but was purchased by the Bryce family in 1900. The built the mansion which holds the museum.

A visit to this gem ids recommended for all New Yorkers and visitors as well.

There's a lot packed into this small attraction. There is a formal garden, hiking trails, sculpture park, and art museum. Bring a picnic lunch and eat on the lawn. (Remember to pack out whatever you packed in.) It's a nice place to meander on a beautiful day and if it starts to rain, you can duck into the museum. When we were there, the special exhibit was photographs by Richard Avedon. The admission to the museum is $10, but the grounds are free. It's a special little gem of a place.

Visit the Tee Ridder Museum on the grounds of the Nassau County Museum of Art.
The admissision fee here will also admit you to the Art Museum. The Tee Ridder views Miniatures as Fine Art and you will see miniature furnished rooms and other examples of miniature artisans' work. In addition there are special Exhibits, such as recently: ON STAGE, with miniature scenes from PORGY AND BESS and THE LION KING. Spend a lovely day exploring the 2 Museums, the beautiful grounds and the Sculpture Garden.
