“Great staff and location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 November 2013

Beautiful hotel with great staff, comfortable rooms with local shuttle in the morning. Great restaurants in the old town of Roslyn within walking distance. For some history, visit Hendricks Tavern, go inside to the back bar room and look up to see many pics of George Washington, he once stayed there when it was a printing factory. Thyme has an amazing cobb salad, MP Taverna great food & draft beer, Deli across from MP Taverna has great NY style pizza, Kyma is expensive but nice, Labogetta great italian, Kotobuki for great sushi! enjoy

We were staying at the hotel with a wedding party, the staff was rude and nasty to us. We were there for less than 5 min and were told to shut up by hotel staff. There was a women changing her child's dirty diaper by the bar area, that is disgusting. The bride and groom were so upset they left immediately as did we. When we told the from desk we were checking out and wanted a refund as the rooms were not touched. The front desk had no authority to issue a refund. I was told to call Randy the next morning. I called and conveniently he is out of the office all week. I left a message for the manager Cindy and still have not received a call back. Do not stay at this hotel!! If I could give this hotel a 0 I would.

The hotel may be somewhat dated, but it is still a comfortable place to stay, with very good restaurants within walking distance, and if you need a car, Budget and Avis are just across the village, a ten minute walk. There is a lot to do in the immediate area, from great museums, real north coast Long Island historical sites, and more great places to eat if you drive out through Plandome or Manhasset to the harbor. And the city is a close train ride away if 5th avenue is calling.

Room Tip: Rooms facing east-- second or third floor-- then if you need the window open there is little outside...

This is an older hotel and unfortunately, the dated heating system prevented us from getting any sleep for one entire night of our two night stay. The heating system is either on heating or cooling, and since we just stayed (November 2013), it was on heating. Unfortunately, it was unseasonably warm and the room must have been 85%. We tried turning off the heat, but it must have been coming in from other rooms or from below. The fan without heat seemed to make it worse. We tried opening the windows and discovered that the windows were significantly rotted and had no screens. No rooms seem to have screens. We also faced a very busy, noisy road with lots of trucks. The room had new carpet, but the furniture seemed quite worn and dated to me. The service was the one bright spot. It was impeccable. The staff could not be nicer or more helpful. The breakfast buffet was a step above. The room was clean. The second night, the temperature was more moderate and the room less hot.

We tried to stay at the Roslyn Hotel on 10/26/2007. We checked in and went to the room and immediately noticed we were less than 10 FEET from Northern Boulevard highway and our window was 4 feet from the guardrail. We went to the front desk and spoke to Randy the manager on duty who, and asked to change rooms with someone who has not checked in yet and he informed us that there was no possibility even though the housekeeping staff stated many rooms were ready and unoccupied. He was a complete AS***LE and refused to help us and said unfortunately he did not design the hotel and actually stayed in that room and it was extremely loud as HALF THE HOTEL IS ON THE ROAD. I said unfortunately we were checking out. He then said we had violated the cancellation policy and we were going to be charged anyway. Didn't really matter much to argue with the jerk but called my American express rep and she put the charges into dispute. See who gets the last laugh when the charges are reversed. The really fully part is I got an email from them thanking me for my stay and a survey that I honestly filled out. Customer service in the Roslyn hotel sucks(especially Randy), and to me life is pretty simple, if you don't like your job, try not to torture your patrons--just quit and find another job in another non customer service area. The hotel also needed to be updated with new carpeting and shades as it just felt "old". Please don't stay here unless you bring your earplugs. We moved down the road to the Andrew Hotel in Great Neck, and although the room was slightly older, the front desk staff was extremely accommodating.

Room Tip: DO NOT STAY HERE WITHOUT EARPLUGS. If you must stay here out of necessity, ask for a room off the hi...

Despite, being a non-smoking hotel, the first room in which we were placed smelled heavily of cigarette smoke. It was positively unbearable! The room we ended up with had only two pillows. Several attempts to get additional pillows were denied; supposedly, they were out of extra pillows. Seriously?!!! The bed was hard. Springs poked at us all night. We were just outside of the lobby and were awaken by the banging of dishes. The bed linens were old and dingy, as was the decor.

This hotel was very nice and convenient to Long Island locations. Rooms were clean, roomy and quiet. Staff was friendly and helpful. Convenient free parking and in room wireless service. Overall, very comfortable.
