This was an excellent experience. The house could not be more charming, and is restored beautifully. Even though it has a classic country feel, there are modern conveniences such as DirecTV, Netflix, iPads for use, and a beautiful updated kitchen. The owners were friendly and welcoming, and the home cooked breakfast was delicious. Highly recommended!

My husband and I stayed at the Caldwell House during a weekend away from the kids. I couldn't agree more with all the previous reviews and recommend Caldwell highly! John and Dena have done a splendid job of maintaining the historical spirit of the house all while offering their guests the amenities of a modern hotel. The Trestle Room, according to Dena, was one of the smaller rooms in the house but it was more than enough space for the two of us. The air-conditioned room was immaculately cleaned and the queen sized bed was very comfortable. There was not only wifi in the room but an iPad mini which one could use to scope out activities in the area. Breakfast was delicious, especially Dena's fruit salsa. Most importantly, John and Dena were exactly the type of owners you hope to find at a B&B...they were a delight to share a meal with and very helpful in giving advice on where to go/what to do. We will definitely be back!

Thank you so much for your generous review. A special thank you for noting the great work our staff does to keep the Inn clean. They take great pride in their work and they really appreciate the "atta boys".
We hope to see you back here again! Until then, all the best,

Just a note of sincere thanks to Dena and John for such a lovely, welcoming stay at their wonderful inn. Every detail was anticipated, rooms are ultra comfortable and beautiful and Dena's breakfasts are superb - can't wait for her cookbook to come out! Can't recommend a stay here more highly...it was just great and it's no wonder that they've been awarded the "Certificate of Excellence" 4 years in a row from Trip Advisor!!! Thanks again to the fantastic Finneran's...

Our family stayed at the Caldwell House for our son's graduation from West Point. The week could not have been more perfect. Dena and John go over and beyond in every aspect. They even helped us plan a very large outside dinner for our son and his friends and families. They just told me to relax and they would take care of all the details - and boy did they ever. I truly can not imagine a more perfect place to stay. We will definitely come back!!

It is hard to believe it has been a month since we last saw you! We just had 4 new R-Day Plebes come and go.
Graduation week has become one of our favorite weeks of the year here. The pride and love of all the families for their cadet son or daughter fills the house and creates such a wonderful environment. We couldn't be happier to be a part of your family's celebration and it is an honor for us to host you.
We do hope that we will continue to see you in the coming years. Until then, all the best,

John and Dena

Our first visit to the Hudson Valley and the 1800-era Caldwell House was our "home away from home" for 3 nights. It is an absolute delight. Our room in the Carriage House, Storm King, included wood beams from the 1800s... and an iPad --- all the modern conveniences and lovingly remodeled. Dena and John greet you like guests and you leave like family. The breakfasts were wonderful which meant all we needed was a late lunch every day. As with most B and B's you will share the table with others and we met lovely people of all ages from artists visiting the Storm King sculpture garden to military visiting West Point. This inn is perfectly placed between Hyde Park and Sleepy Hollow which allows easy access to the Rockefeller Estate (Kykuit), West Point, the Culinary Institute and the FDR home and Presidential Library.

We had a family party in the area and opted to stay overnight so we could enjoy ourselves without worrying. The Vineyard room is on the top floor of the newly renovated carriage house- very nicely done with wood beams and gas fireplace. The bathroom, especially the shower is amazing - it's huge! The grounds will be gorgeous once the construction is complete. Breakfast wasn't bad. A bit pricey given the construction.

Just spent 2 nights at Caldwell House. Clean with friendly hosts, John and Dena. Large well appointed rooms and the grounds are spacious and beautiful. Nicest we ve seen - a sitting area near the back porch was relaxing. Breakfasts expertly prepared by Dena. Toured West Point and had dinner on the Hudson in Newburgh, 15 minutes away.

If we return to the area, we will stay here. They are expanding so more rooms will be available. Some interesting conversation at breakfast as well.
