My husband and I traveled with my mom to up State New York a few weeks ago and we stayed at the Lake Flower Inn Motel at Saranac Lake for one night. We originally had thought about staying in Lake Placid but after being in Lake Placid for a few hours one afternoon we were glad our motel was away from the traffic and noise of Lake Placid.

Our room was great and comfortable. It was not really modern but clean and we had everything we needed including a mini-fridge. We really enjoyed sitting on the lawn chairs facing the lake and we also appreciated the proximity to restaurants. We walked to a restaurant for dinner and it was great. There is a pool as well but we did not go in.

The staff at the motel was also nice and helpful. We would stay there again. Great place, good location and great value.

Room Tip: Away from the road is better when asking for a room

The room was spotless and the place was extremely well maintained. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was strong with plenty of hot water. The location is directly on Lake Flower and only a few minutes walk to the center of town where there are several places to eat and have a drink. The place has a pool, a canoe which guests can use, free wi-fi, and free coffee in the morning. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Really I can not think of anything negative. Overall an excellent value and I would highly recommend the Lake Flower Inn to anyone visiting the Adirondack region.

We visited this motel for Ironman Lake Placid weekend and were very pleased with the proximity to LP. For the price and location (and the fact that they didn't require a 5+ day minimum stay like places in LP do for IMLP weekend) it was a good value. I also really liked that there was one parking space designated per room which was right in front of the door to the room itself. Very convenient for load-in and load-out if luggage and coolers - or for dragging in sleepy kids on those late nights!

The hotel itself is well-kept and clean, but dated. Linens were well-used but clean and the beds - well, lets just say I wouldn't suggest looking too closely under the waterproof mattress covers (but hey, they had mattress covers - big plus!). The whole place has a 50's vibe going, with pink tile in the bathroom - very typical for older lodging in the 'dacks. Again, clean and well-kept, though.

My one big complaint - and I think it was an isolated incident - was the pool schedule. Having smaller kids, the pool was a huge factor in deciding to stay at this motel: built-in entertainment! We were there for three days and four nights and planned on using the pool each and every day, weather permitting. Two of the three days we were there, the pool opened quite late (1+ hours each day) despite the weather being absolutely ideal for swimming - again, this was probably an isolated issue and the proprietor did apologize for the problems, but if the pool matters greatly to you I'd simply suggest you call and confirm the schedule and availability prior to your visit.

We have enjoyed our visit to Lake Flower Inn for the past four years and Kim has always been charming and very helpful and has the fresh hot coffee ready in the mornings. We have enjoyed the fireworks from their pool/lakeside area during the winter carnival.

Our son recently graduated from Paul Smith's College of the Adirondacks. During his 4 years at Paul Smith's, we had the opportunity to stay at the Lake Flower Inn at least 2-3 times per year, including during Winter Carnival time. My husband and I particularly enjoy staying in "Mom and Pop" motels, as we have found over the years that they are not the normal cookie cutter motel/hotel that you normally find. The Lake Flower has been one of our favorites among our Mom and Pops visited over the years. The rooms are very basic, featuring 1-2 queen size beds, a night stand, seating arrangement, and dresser arrangement with TV. The bathrooms are tiled in a circa 1950's tile that is still in great condition. The showers are alway hot, the bathrooms and sleeping areas ALWAYS very clean. Kim, the proprietor, goes out of her way to welcome her guests, regardless of whether it's your 1st visit or your 5th. This motel sits directly on Lake Flower, very near the location of the Ice Castle sculpture which is created each year as part of the Winter Carnival. The pool is always very clean and overlooks Lake Flower. There is probably one of the best views of Winter Carnival fireworks from the parking lot of the Lake Flower Inn. It is withing walking distance of several eating establishments, and driving distance of of more eating establishments, shopping plazas. Lake Placid is very near. We would highly recommend the Lake Flower Inn as one of the must-visit places during your trip to the Adirondacks.

I stayed hear during the 2010 Saranac Lake Winter Carnival and it was a blast! The fireworks were great and we had a front row view as this hotel is only steps from the lake. The owner/operator is a really fun, sweet woman who keeps the place clean, friendly and affordable for those who can't spend $300 a night at some Lake Placid dive (read the reviews, Lake Placid seems a bit of a rip-off) There is a dock and swimming pool but seeing as we were there in winter we couldn't make much use of those, though I can imagine it would be a great spot during the summer. A quick drive to Lake Placid (10-15 mins tops) and some great local stuff (downtown is within walking distance) make this a great value. Another reviewer has stated that the decor is a bit dated and they're right but it doesn't matter much - everything from the bed to the bathroom is white glove clean and in good shape, what else is there to say at this price level, really? Cable TV, in room fridge, good heating all worked and were "modern". The king bed suite overlooking the lake is awesome - highly recommended for couples. Best b-day ever ;)

Stayed there because almost everything else was booked in Lake Placid or very expensive because of peak leaf viewing season. Ok for a short stay- one night or so. Nothing special, entry from the outside. Water was hot, TV remote worked, and bed was comfortable. The motel was within walking distance of places to eat and visitors center. Had room with window view of Lake for ten dollars extra. View was nice but no privacy. Any one can see inside as you are looking outside.
The price $118 was high but probably reflected the demand.
