I was looking for a nice place to stay close to my son's camp at Long Lake, so that I could be there for the Parents' Weekend festivities. I happened to find this Bed & Breakfast on the Internet, and thought that it looked so much nicer than some of the other motel options in the area. Even though it ended up being an hour from my son's camp, it was WELL worth the drive! Right on Kiawassa Lake - a lake that has a great deal of State land surrounding it - so it was peaceful and quiet. We loved spending evenings on the dock and watching the beautiful sunset views. Our room was definitely generous in size, very clean and well-appointed. Country decor, but by no means too rustic. The rooms and hallways seemed almost brand new. We also had a small deck to sit out on, right off of the sitting area in our room. There was even a small kitchen on the upstairs floor, where the hosts generously provided "grab and go" food for us, since one day we needed to leave too early in the morning to get the regular breakfast. The food was delicious! The hosts were more than accomodating. Having never been to this area, it was a wonderful surprise. I would definitely go back for another visit!

Room Tip: Ask for the Eagle or Pike rooms if you want the best view of the Lake, and a little deck off the roo...

We spent many years in the traditional Adirondack cabins owned by Marge and Cliff Cochran with our children and grand kids. The cabins are tucked into the woods along the channel (each with its own dock) connecting Lake Kiwassa to the locks that open up the Saranac Lake system for boating and fishing. This year my husband and I stayed in one of the 4 beautiful rooms in their B&B. The high ceilinged room was decorated with a colorful quilt, modern furnishings mixed with antiques, a modern bath with heat lamp and windows all around for lake views. Breakfast was delightful and much more than we are used to. Love the loons and the proprietors who have become good friends. It feels like coming home to relax with friends amidst the beauty and peace of the Adirondacks. Judy and Carl

We enjoyed a very relaxing and beautiful stay. The location on the lake is fantastic. We stayed in the Eagle room, with a wonderful picture window over the lake, and a small balcony outside. Staying there provides a great combination of every comfort you could want with a relaxed, informal Adirondack feel. Breakfast (a German apple pancake) was delicious. We felt as if we were friends who had been invited over rather than paying guests, and enjoyed talking with Margie and her husband Cliff. It was great to be able to get a canoe right there (rather than having to rent in town) and go out on the water, where we saw a bald eagle, a hooded merganser mother with seven ducklings, a heron, and various other wildlife. We would definitely go back, and highly recommend it.

Room Tip: While we enjoyed a room on the lake side, the other rooms looked great, too.

My husband and I have visited Kiwassa Lake B & B for the past three years. All four roms are beautifully decorated. The inn is located on Lake Kiwassa with fantastic views of the lake. Margie prepares delicious and healthy breakfasts and she is full of info about the area. We are looking forward to our stay in 2012 !!

My husband and I stayed at Kiwassa Lake B&B for a few days in mid October, and we absolutely loved it! Margie's hospitality is unsurpassable, and her breakfasts are just delicious. We stayed in the Eagle room--it was very clean and beautifully appointed, with excellent views of the lake. We loved the location--right on Kiwassa Lake, but not far away from the sights in Saranac Lake & Lake Placid. It really was the perfect "home base" for us to explore the Adirondack region, which was gorgeous this time of year. Margie was very knowledgeable and made excellent recommendations for hiking excursions as well as restaurants. We really could not have asked for more, and I hope we will be back many times.

Room Tip: ask for a room with a view :)

We stayed in one of the smaller cabins @ $125/night. Stupid expensive for what it is, basically a bedroom with a tiny bathroom. Advertised as having kitchen facities, these consisted of a tiny fridge and not even a counter area to prepare food. Cabin was clean enough but old and run down. The property itself does not offer any beach or swimming area as the waterfront is basically a powerboat dock with a big chunk taken up by the owners float plane. It was however a very quiet and peaceful location other than some fairly dense powerboat traffic in the daytime. There is a list of requirements posted involving cleaning, scrubbing and mopping prior to vacating ones cabin which for the price seemed completely ridiculous, for well over $100/night for the cheapest cabin the owners should not be requiring the guests do do their own cleaning. I would give this a miss, too basic, the cabin we stayed in needs a serious updating and/or price should be far more reasonable.

The review posted is full of misrepresentations of Kiwassa Lake Bed and Breakfast and we question whether or not this guest actually stayed in the B&B. The review seems to pertain to our sister property, Cochran's Cabins. What is descrbed seems to be one of our smallest, least expensive cabins that is clearly advertised as not having a kitchen. The cabins are also advertised as being rustic, housekeeping cabins - meaning you keep house, no maid service. We have been in business for our 20 years and take great pride in the properties we own - in fact, this cabin has new knotty pine interior and new vinyl flooring.

If you are looking for peace and tranquility and enjoy nature at its best, then Kiwassa Lake B&B is the place for you. Margie & Cliff, their son Doug, and dog Laney are perfect hosts and made us feel welcome the moment we arrived. We spent 5 very comfortable nights in the Pike room which had a beautiful view of the serene lake and surrounding wooded countryside. Margie made us delicious breakfasts every day and she and Doug were very helpful in providing information on the area. Their dining and other recommendations were perfect for us. We enjoyed sitting by the lake, watching all the hummingbirds and other birds at their many feeders, and hearing and seeing the Loons. A new and thrilling experience for me was a ride over the Saranac Lake area in their seaplane.

A special thank you to the Cochrans for sharing their wonderful home with us. I enjoyed our conversations and felt sad leaving our new “friends”.
