My mother and I took a little road trip from Ottawa to Cape Cod. I looked at lodgings along our route and wanted something "half way" to our final destination. My mom and I also wanted something special and bit over and above the large chain hotels.
We landed at Longfellows Hotel in early afternoon and were delighted at how beautiful to hotel and grounds are. Upon check in we received two home baked cookies as a welcome gift...who doesn't love home baked cookies?. Our room was very clean and had a great view of the back, including the wedding venue. The bathroom is gynormous, with a great soaker tub.
We had dinner at the hotel restaurant and advised by locals to try the kobe hamburger. It was delicious and one burger/fries combo could easily feed two adults. The continental breakfast with in house bakes goods was delicious. Staff was friendly and helpful and really seemed happy to have us there.

We wanted a local one-night getaway the day after our wedding. Many of our friends suggested The Romance Package at Longfellows. We admit we were hesitant at first...$195 for a room and dinner seemed like a deal that was "too good to be true"...Needless to say, it was absolutely incredible! The room was beautiful and clean (we were in a King Loft Suite), the jacuzzi tub was relaxing, room service was prompt and the food was delicious, and our dinner - well, we can't say enough! Alcohol is not included in the package price, but regardless it was still a bargain. We had so much food between 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, and 2 desserts...we ended up taking 1/2 of everything back to our room to enjoy later on! The staff was friendly at both the restaurant and the hotel. We can't wait to make plans for another overnight getaway!

Room Tip: We loved the King Size Loft Suite...the only downside (if you like dark rooms in hotels to be able t...

My husband and I just spent the weekend at Longfellows and got their romance package. The package includes a king suite, champagne and chocloates in your room apon arrival, a four course dinner in their on-site restaurant and a contenential breakfast the next morning (approx. $245 +taxes and any alcohol and gratuity at dinner - for a weekend visit). The room was nice and clean although the furniture could use some updatding, the pillows are very soft, the TV's were old (one of the remotes was missing the back to it) and we did notice some ants in our room. However, that being said, I still feel it was worth the price of the package considering the meal, the proximity to downtown (about a 5 min. drive to Broadway) and the staffs personal touches.

Upon check-in we were given a welcome letter and 2 home made cookies (which were quite good) and in the morning a thank you letter -along with a coupon for a free app. or desert at their sister restaurant, the Old Bryan Inn, was slipped under our door. Everyone working their was friendly and helpful.

The restaurant on-site was very good. Even though they had a wedding reception going on (which by the way is held in a completely separate area) aside from some cheers, and a little clapping we would have never known they were there. The atmosphere is very nice and the food was delicious. I had the duck and my husband had the lamb special - both of which were cooked perfectly. With the romance package your are not limited to a "special menu" and with the exception of the 30oz. prime rib (which will cost you just a few dollars more) you can order anything from their regular menu. The package gives you two apps., two entrees and two deserts and a salad course - should you so choose. I did have a salad and the champagne vinegarette was out of this world. The crabmeat and artichoke dip with pita chips was amazing as well and the Italian lemon cake and turtle cheese cakes that we got for desert were very good. The drinks however were pretty week (captain and ginger ale) so I would recommened just having a beer or a glass or wine.

Something that I did not see on any trip advisor reviews was the mention of a hiking trail located behind the hotel. The map at the head of the trail shows a nice hiking route with some lookout points at the end of a lake. Unfortuantely the trail got quite muddy and with out the right shoes we deicded to turn back.

There is a small gym on the first floor, vending machines and ice machines at the end of each floor and a small spot on the side of the building with some adarondack chairs facing the woods.

We would definitely recommend this place and would return. It's a little off the beaten path of downtown Broadway but close enough to enjoy it all and stil have a quite place to return to at night.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 225. Second floor (which is the top floor) so there's nobody above you. It...

We stay at Longfellows Hotel about every other month to experience a very relaxing long weekend. The staff is remarkably friendly, the rooms are attractive, clean and spacious, and any requests we have made are compentently handled with a smile by whomever is asked. The food is great and can range from a simple light fare to the finest dining. In addition, the hotel can make arrangements for dinner reservations at its sister restaurant, Olde Bryon Inn in downtown Saratoga Springs.

We will continue to return on a regular basis to enjoy fantastic times away from the daily grind of every day life.
