Longfellows has great food. This was my first time having dinner here and the food was certainly worthy of 5 stars. The service was so bad they can consider themselves fortunate to get 4 stars and not just 3. We had a dinner reservation for 4 people on a Saturday night. When we arrived they did not have the reservation. Eventually they found it but had it for the previous night on Friday. This was their error as the reservation was asked for the Saturday. They did tell us they would find us a table if we would wait so we went to the bar. The bar area is really nice and the servers there were very good. We ordered a bottle of wine and some drinks and we were then seated at our table. Our primary server was not very knowledgeable but did seem willing to get answers to our questions. He took our order and from then on we did not hear from him. When our food was served a busboy just came to the table and stood there with two plates in his hand. The room was fairly noisy and he seemed to be saying something but we could not hear him. He was trying to find out who ordered what so he could put it down. I guess our server never told him. This was quite annoying as it is not my job to direct busboys where to put food. More importantly before our food was ever served we had run out of our drinks as well as the water originally given to us. We kept trying to get our servers attention but he never looked our way. One of us eventually went back to the bar to order another bottle of wine and more drinks and got back before our server even realized we were gone. I had the Tuna which was excellent. The Tilapia with Crabmeat and the Prime Rib were both very well prepared and flavorful. The Prime Rib said 12 oz but seemed to be even bigger. The person eating the Swordfish thought it was flavorful but slightly overcooked. For dessert we shared the Hot Fudge Sundae which was huge and delicious. After dinner we went back upstairs to the bar where we enjoyed another bottle of wine and some more drinks. The bartender that night, Amanda, was excellent and very sympathetic to our bad experience with our service at dinner. We walked around the dining areas and can say the atmosphere at Longfellows is excellent. I really wish the service was better because it would leave a much better taste in our mouths. Thank goodness we did have an excellent experience in the bar or else our rating would have been worse.
