“Casual dining.”

Food is okay. Atmosphere is great. You can smell the salt air. Dress casually. You'll be dining with plastic flatware and paper plates.

“Changed in one month !!!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 May 2013 via mobile

Was there a little over a month ago .. I like to support our local restaurants that were effected by hurricane Sandy. They opened the week prior to my first visit. All the food was fresh from the New England clam chowder to the fried seafood combo. So decided to go back. Pretty much ordered the same thing the New England clam chowder was old and thick. Don't get me wrong I like a hearty soup but when u see the crust from the side of the pot in your paper bowl it's gross .. My partner got the fish and chips .. They weren't chips as in French fries as the waitress said it was potato BURNT wedges .. As for her fish I can tell was double fried ... I've worked in the food business for 15 years I know fried food ... As for me ordered the baked clams ,burnt on the bottom and dry added a lot of lemon didn't work. My main course was the fried fishermans platter like I ordered once before. OMG night and day. The shrimp was fried hours before the clams and fish to. Some what warm but microwaved .. The bay scallops were the only thing fried fresh .. The beer was cold and fresh. So disappointed in myself for paying for the meal and never saying anything to the waitress. Who by the way was very good and professional. .. Won't be going back sorry to say . Like I said I like to support local business especially those who were hit by sandy

“We'll give it another chance”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 May 2013 via mobile

Known of the Cull House for sometime and finally decided to go for lunch. Great little secret on the south shore tucked away in the surrounding area of boats, ferries, Browns River and of course the Great South Bay. Ambience is rustic and fitting for this comfortable and unassuming restaurant. We were quickly attended to and offered the menu. Our waiter Tim was great, fast, knowledgable and he knew exactly how execute service. We ordered the calamari, shrimp appetizer which was great then onto the delicious lobster roll. The lobster bisque was a little too heavy but good. By the way the Margaritas are superb.
We'll be back for the Snowcrab legs and Margaritas!

“Great Seafood and Camraderie”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 March 2013

My family has lived in Sayville for 27 years and The Cull House has been our "go to" casual seafood restaurant for all of that time. The owners, John and Andrea Casey, greet patrons with gusto and truly go out of their way to get to know each one. Recently renovated after Hurricane Sandy, the vibe is casual by-the-water zen...nothing fancy about this place. It is not unusual to see strangers seated at neighboring tables chatting and making new friends. The Casey's have a knack for hiring very dedicated workers...when the time comes, these young people can hustle. Their bar tenders--especially Darlene--are welcoming and willing to meet any requests you may have. There's always a new wine to sample or a local beer on tap. But what about the food? Ah, the food is awesome. We often start by sharing a bowl of steamer clams. I have become addicted to the lobster grilled cheese (it is on the lunch menu, but you may have it for dinner as well). Seafood fra diavolo is my hubby's favorite--and you can have it at your desired "hot" factor. As a special, there is a seafood mac & cheese that will blow you away--and the seafood shephard's pie is also out of this world. I often find myself taking half my meal home to enjoy the next day as well. Desserts are nice, smaller portions...you frequently don't want or need a big slab of sugar. The chocolate mousse is excellent. While The Cull House is located steps away from the water, it isn't truly water view. It overlooks a boat yard and you can hear the wind blowing through the sailboats. We frequently meet friends here for a good meal and camaraderie. And for the times we choose to go solo, we are never solo for long. Thank you, John and Andrea, for providing such a nice place in which to "hang out"!

Great lobster rolls in a relaxed atmosphere. Open year round! Good beer and wine specials too. We love this place.
