“Nice stay.”
Reviewed 22 February 2010

Came here with a group on a retreat. Beautiful open space and nice location. Motel is okay. Needs a lot of updating. Room was very small, had small sink outside the bathroom. Staff was friendly and helpful. Food was good, enjoyed buffet.

My family and I always book one of their Villa units during the summer. The Rooms are clean, the service great and the Lake is beautiful and clean. The Resort is far away from Lake George Village but this lends to the rustic and getaway quality that the resort offers. Lake George Village during the summer months is congested and very busy with people. The Lake (at this end)--is teeming with boats.
If you want to get away from a lot of noise and just spend quiet quality time with your family, then Northern Lake George Resort is the place for you. If you want to go shopping or to the Great Escape Amusement Park, these trips are made in very little time.

The title says it all. The cabins are very nice, but the motel seems to have been ignored. We asked for a cabin when we made the reservations but there were none availble. So the rest of the group convinced me to just book a motel room there. So we did and drove the 6 hours to the lake and discovered that the resort is over an hour away from Lake George the town and 45 minutes from the closest town (forget the name). We walked into the room and discovered 1 big bed taking up the small tired room. It was clean mind you but everything looked like it hadnt been updated since the 70s. I wanted to go somewhere else but we already paid and it was a busy weekend. The first night was interesting with 3 people to a bed. My girlfriend took the middle and my friend on the other side trying to sleep but we couldn't. Why? Because the walls are paper thin! We could hear the two guys next door having a despicable conversation. We finally screamed, "SHUT UP!" after a few minutes listening to them.

The next morning we had the free breakfast, which is delicious. The grounds are beautiful. I tried to make a call but there is no cell service here. The View restaraunt up the street 20 minutes is great for dinner.

  • Liked — Breakfast, views, cabin accomodations
  • Disliked — Distance from attractions, no cell service, motel room quality

Came up from Maryland to do some Ice Fishing. We had a great time and the staff at the resort couldn't help us enough. We always had a nice stack of wood for the fire place and I thought our room was excellent. They were very helpful with directions and gave us some really good advise on where to catch the big ones. We will be going up again in February, 2007 and look forward to staying in the same room. Can't say enough good things about them.........

My twin brother and I spent 3 days there ice fishing. Upon our arrival we were welcomed with friendly smiles. They knew were were coming to do some ice fishing. While we were checking in, one of the owners was already on the ice to see how thick it was for our saftey. They explained that it was safe and told us how far we could walk out. They also stated that they would keep an eye on us while we were out there. The room was excellent, plenty of wood for the fire place, clean and neat. This place had everything we wanted for a relaxing fishing trip. I have read the other two reviews and I just don't understand how they could be so different. Oh bye the way, my brother and I are going back in Feb. 2007. Will let you know how we do fishing. Vince A.

We arrived late on a Saturday evening 10/7/06 (in the dark) and were put off by the condition of the motel room. There was no hot water, sheets and pillows were stained, and the room was very run down. We told the front desk of our disappointment and he suggested an upgrade to the villa (at an upgrade cost to us). We briefly looked into that room which was difficult to see into since the front porch light was not working. We then decided since we'd driven all day to get there and there is no cell service up in that area that we might have a difficult time finding another place to stay. So, we went down the road to get dinner and upon our return to the villa found that the bed sheets and pillows in this unit were also very stained, the mattress were without pad and very dirty. In addition there was filth (and some blood) on the walls upstairs in the loft, flies upstairs and it was generally disgusting... not a place you'd want to spend a nice family get-away weekend!!! We then left the key and a note explaining that we decided to move on at the front desk and proceeded 2-1/2 hours south into Albany to find a Marriott where all was well and very clean. We later called the front desk (since no one was available about 9 p.m. to help us and issue a credit) and he said it would be taken care of. Well after getting home, we find that they have no intention of issuing a credit and tried to say that we left the room in disarray and we'd be charged for cleaning it.....I doubt it was ever cleaned to begin with.... Our advice... forget it... move on... not worth it at all, sorry to say. Very rude too!

My wife and I spent one night instead of two at the Northern Lake George Resort during a heat spell in mid-August 2005. While the location was very pretty and the restaurant prepared both a nice dinner and breakfast, our room in the motel was less than we anticipated even though the staff was helpful and friendly.

A new facility to replace the motel where we stayed is planned and it is needed since the current one is old and most of the rooms appeared to be like ours, barely large enough for the king-sized bed.

The newer buildings are larger and much more attractive although I'm certain they cost quite a bit more than the $100 per night we were charged.

The porch of the lodge overlooking Lake George is comfortable and there is an attractive small beach where a number of families were enjoying the water.

Perhaps if the weather was more comfortable, we would have stayed two days but even then the room, although clean, was not what we have come to expect when we travel.
