“GREAT VALUE/COZY SWEET ROOM”
Reviewed 24 February 2014

My husband and I returned to Finger Lakes Lodging after several years because we remembered it fondly. We stayed Saturday ($119) & Sunday ($79) nights in February and had a lovely visit. The king bed was very comfortable and the place was spotless. We love the cozy feel the gas fireplace delivers. High beamed ceiling, bright with natural light coming thru large window in front & back door (leads to a tiny outdoor space w/2 Adirondack chairs). Bathroom is large enough w/slate floor, slate shower is small but how much time do you spend in there? Our bathroom had a small space across from the sink w/stool, tiny counter & lighted make-up mirror so it worked well. It's not luxurious but clean & comfy - perfect for a two-night stay. We always walk across to Rosalie's Cucina for dinner (Fabulous!). There's also a great room which you can access w/your room key that has free coffee available all day, a television, large dining table and couches & chairs to read, if you're interested. Soaring ceilings again & very bright. We typically spend our $$$ while we're in town on food, wine, shopping, etc. so this lodge is affordable & clean & cozy - - just what we like!

Room Tip: If you're traveling in warmer weather, be sure to ask for a room that has the small patio area w...

The decor of our room was charming and rustic. However, the mattress was too soft for my liking, and I had a poor night's sleep.
The bathroom was cute, but FREEZING. Granted, it was February, but the tile floor was like walking on ice. The stall shower (no tub) was quite small and dark (the ceiling light in the middle of the room didn't shed much light into the shower). In general, the lighting in the bathroom was not good. I had trouble getting ready in the morning due to poor lighting. The lighting in the bedroom was fine, but there was no mirror there.
My recommendations would be:
1. better mattresses
2. better heating and lighting in the bathroom (and tubs, but that would require a renovation).
3. a mirror over the desk in the bedroom.
We likely won't stay here again.

I will start by saying that I'm not one to usually splurge on hotels. I want a clean and comfortable room to spend the night at, but I'd rather spend money on activities on vacation.

This hotel fit the bill for the most part. The rates were some of the cheapest around. The room was very clean and decorated with rustic décor. It was a decent size, and we didn't feel too cramped. Loved the gas fireplace in the corner of the bedroom. Very cozy.

There are a couple of downsides. First, the bathroom was very dark. Very little lighting, and the tile was dark as well. Made getting ready difficult. The second is that the location relative to all the things to do in the Finger Lakes is a little far. That isn't really the fault of the hotel, but I do think next time I would stay closer to Seneca or Cayuga Lake. There were a couple of times when we wanted to maybe stop by the room to rest for an hour or two but the drive wouldn't have worked out.

A little tip: Mirabeau (the sister hotel) offers a continental breakfast and you can order individual items as well. A little pricey for breakfast, especially if you are like me and you don't eat a ton in the morning. However, there is a great bakery downtown that offers pastries and breakfast sandwiches. I would skip Mirabeau and hit the bakery instead.

Room 710 is very wheelchair accessible. Back your car up to the door and unload bags easily into the room. The doorway is wide and door easy to open. The carpet is low mat and easy to roll over. The 2 queen bedroom/living area is large and rustic with log cabin décor and small gas fireplace. The bathroom is large with slate tile floor, roll in shower, large pedestal sink and ADA height toilet. We found the room to be very quiet and comfortable. Extra bathroom supplies were stored in the drawer below the TV. Other good points listed by other commenters were true.

Negatives: Very, very dim lighting In bathroom. Carpet could use a good shampoo.

Overall, a nice convenient place to stay. Staff vey helpful and accommodating staff.

We were on a motorcycle trip around the Finger Lakes and stayed here Aug.15, 2013. Reasonable rates during the week. Only paid $89 Thurs. night. Shortly after we arrived, it started to pour rain, and a person who works at the Mirabeau, brought us back umbrellas so we could walk across the road for supper at a restaurant! Friendly staff, very clean rooms and comfortable beds. Definitely would stay again. The rooms looked great, like a cottage.

We have stayed many times at the Mirabeau and when we couldn't due to last minute booking get a room there, they suggested their sister property, Finger Lakes Lodging. We thought given the association with the Mirabeau brand it woud be of Mirabeau quality. It wasn't.

FLL is a classic motel that was inexpensively updated. The rooms are immaculate but very small. The shower (no tub) was tiny. The fan in the bathroom sounded like a jet engine and it came on whenever the bathroom light was turned on. The bed was a queen. It is an adequate property.

We experienced some maintenance issues. The TV was a small cathode ray tube with a loose cable connection causing a weak, static laden connection. The sink had a very slow drain.

We paid over $200 for the room. This may have been because of an area room shortage the night we booked. I would think a market price for the room would be more in the $150 range.

Next time at the $200 price, we would do more shopping.

I do hope FLL managers update the TVs, clean the drain lines and replace the fans in the bathrooms.

Skaneateles is a wonderful town that is worth visiting.

Great location, across from Mirabeau but LOTS of truck traffic noise. Be forewarned.

Stayed Boat Show weekend so at very top of their price point. Beggars can't be choosy. Paid $190 per night for a room which at best is $100 per night room. Cozy cottage room. A bit cramped, with a queen bed. Very small bathroom and tiny shower. Pillows are threadbare and not what you would expect from a Mirabeau-owned property. Called front desk at Mirabeau twice for additional pillows - but none were delivered. Bedding was very comfortable. If you did not have to check in at Mirabeau you would never know it was owned by Mirabeau. Rooms need to be re-done and updated.

In the "off-season" rates plummet and you should consider holding off to get a much lower rate than I paid.

$10/day for continental breakfast at Mirabeau. $25 to access spa. Both are very good deals. Enjoyed breakfast twice and one lunch. If you are in a hurry do not come here for lunch. Enjoyed the ambiance immensely. After 45 minutes and 3 visits from the server asking if there is anything else we need (perhaps food) I went in search of restaurant manager but only found the hostess who said she would inquire. After another 15 minutes lunch arrived and it was spectacular!

Note to Mirabeau - please suggest your restaurant managers be visible and vigilant during dining hours in case diners have a problem.
