Bear in mind that this is a review and is not written to be negative or postive at all, just the facts!
This was booked as a birthday gift for my wife and thus I had specific things that I had in mind. The first priority when selecting a B&B for this location (Skaneateles) was a claws foot bath tub. After going thru the various options I chose Lady of the Lake and booked the DeEtta room which had a claws foot tub, perfect. Upon arrival we were greeted by the most wonderful lady who was the caretaker. She had indicated that a long term boarder had rented the room and were were being "upgraded" to one of the other two rooms of our choice. The other rooms were very nice but lacked a claws foot tub....very disappointing! However we picked out the Stella and settled in.
When I booked I knew that this was right on the corner of State Routes 5&20 and West Lake Road right in the center of town. This was not a concern since it was a weekend, hence no major truck traffic/noise, and in January, thus no major tourist traffic. Unfortunately we had a snow storm that night and every piece of snow removal equipment on the eastern seaboard must have been out running between 3 - 5 AM that sleep was interrupted frequently, very noisy. I can not imagine what the street noise would be during the week or summer season.
Other than that the service and helpfulness of the care taker was exceptional! Breakfast was plenty and over the top! We were constantly offered drinks and snacks as well as very cheerful banter. Since we were the only ones there, the long term person was "home" for the weekend, I feel we got such personalized service that we felt part of a family!
It was a great one night stay and perhaps if it was for more than one night and no snow storm we would have not noticed how close we actually were to the main roads. All in all it was a great weekend get away and Happy Birthday! Thank you!
