We visit quite frequently as it is always a good meal. They have a nice tavern menu and more expensive menu so you can decided how you want your meal. Sometimes its a simple cheese burger ($8-$10) that is excellent and other times a filet mignon ($28). Pot roast is excellent too. It is a nice atmosphere right across from the lake. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

Food was just OK, had the special prime rib. Came out cold and dry, like last weeks leftover. Waitress took it back and brought another cut. Much better, but damage was done. Kitchen should have never plated the first piece, shows a lack of quality control. View was nice, overlooked the park and lake

After walking around Skaneateles, sight seeing, shopping it was time to have dinner and with little thought we chose the Sherwood Inn Tavern. We have eaten here several times and have always had a wonderful meal. Sunday was no exception. We both ordered one of the specials of the day-pot roast with spinach, melted cheese, special sauce on their wonderful bread and sweet potato fries. A glass of wine off their great wine list. We had no wait time and the service and our servers were very pleasant, personable and attentive. A perfect ending to a very relaxing day in this beautiful village.

As I used to live in Skaneateles, and in 1988 my family actually lived in the Sherwood Inn, i've been to lunch and dinner countless times for countless events, e.g. birthdays, weddings and New Years. The Sherwood offers a solid tavern menu with a little bit of everything, from my favorite Sherwood salad to a pecan salmon to die for. If you prefer to eat in the dining room you can't go wrong either. My favorite is visit during lunch hours, sit on the porch (which has a fantastic view of the lake) and order off the tavern menu. That way you get the best of the dining room and the tavern.

In the inn every room is decorated differently. If the room is unoccupied the door will be open, and is worth the walk through, especially if you're waiting for a table.

I gave service 3/5 only because some of the waitstaff are young and inexperienced.

Enjoy!
